Although this was a VRBO property, we worked with a local real estate agency to book the property and to troubleshoot issues. The realty company and the service providers were kind, courteous, and timely in response to our requests, both outside of and during business hours. Overall I felt like I was a subcontractor preparing the house for the summer rental season. Upon our arrival, we needed someone to come because the HVAC system was not working. A handyman came and installed a window unit and brought box fans. The very last steps to the beach path were obscured and had to be cleared out. And while he was there, he greased the sliding glass door. Over the course of the week, the HVAC had to be serviced twice. Two stair treads on an outside staircase were replaced. The night before our departure, the microwave shorted out. One day before we were set to arrive, we were notified that the elevator did not work in the three-story property. It was not repaired during our stay but we were given a partial refund and an offer to re-book with a percentage off.
