We went to a party the night of our stay and did not get to the hotel till almost 2:00 in the morning. I always call in advance and only stay at properties that do not use fragrances or fragrance laundry detergents or fabric softeners because I have asthma. I've never had a problem with this with an IHG property before and when I spoke with the staff before we booked the hotel they said they do not use any fragrances. When I got there I thought a man was wearing cologne in the elevator but then I realized they heavily sent the hallways with something that smells like a very strong cologne. They told me they didn't tell me because it wasn't in the room as if you couldn't smell the hallway from the room. But the smell permeates right under the door and straight into the room as if the room is filled with cologne. I explained this to the person at the desk and they said they could not respond my money and I would have to speak to a manager. The manager was very nice but needed all of my medical records in order to give me a refund. He said he was able to give me the refund but I have not seen it yet on my Expedia account. If I go through all the trouble to make sure that a hotel that I'm staying at understands my needs and they tell me everything is fine and I go there and have to leave a half hour later and I have to work so hard for a refund I will not be staying at that hotel anymore.
