We booked the Bantam Suite (which looks upon the incredible heritage banyan tree on the property), but when we arrived we were offered the Carriage House due to a cancellation – we took it, and it gave us a kitchen, a LOT of space, and ocean views (and lovely sunrises) right from the bed. “This villa was perfect for our group, providing plenty of space for our two families. The views from the lanai were amazing, the house was stocked with everything we could possibly need, and it was in a great location that allowed us to easily access both the Mauna Kea and Westin Resorts. “This house is super spacious, plenty of room for our group of 14, and it felt like a luxury resort with all the upgrades. The pool definitely got a lot of use and how glorious to watch the sunrise while paddle boarding. There is so much to do on this property from tennis to volleyball to snorkeling etc. You name it, they have provided it. “This is a comfortable home in a quiet Waimea neighborhood. There’s a beautiful pasture behind the house with a few cows roaming around. It’s a very short drive to grocery stores, restaurants and farmers’ markets. It’s a great location for accessing both sides of the island. It is a bit of a drive to Volcano NP, but still doable. The beautiful Kohala beaches are also close by. We were also close to some great hiking trails. So all in all, this is a great jumping off point for most of the island. ”

“Very quiet location a short drive from Hilo. Beautiful grounds filled with fruit trees, charming birds, and the coqui frogs will relax you at night. The screened-in lanai is airy with ceiling fans and you will enjoy every spare moment out there or even a nap. Spacious well equipped kitchen and brand new appliances throughout. Many great snorkeling adventures in Hilo make great day trips. Check out the Tuesday night traditional Hawaiian music at the Hilo Town Tavern. ”

If you want a home away from the tourists you are right. Awaiting luxury and quietness, go in a hotel. It’s a normal neighborhood with chicken, dogs and everything else. “The rental was spacious, clean, and well appointed. It was in a fantastic location, close by the great beaches and eateries. The condo grounds were lovely, with a nice pool area. The bedrooms and bathrooms (and closets!) were all very large, making this an extremely comfortable place to stay. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast on the lanai. Overall a great experience.”

“Everything was as indicated in listing but being there was even better. Amazing location amazing property original FLW furnishings but complimented with the luxury an original FLW home lacked. The master bedroom and bath were roomy and dreamy. The whole house is tastefully appointed. Room for each of the four of us to spread out and be comfortable. We went in mid December and temperatures were perfect. Of our five days there, we loved touring the island and a successful whale watching trip but...
