A bit out of the way but well worth it!

This complex was recommended by a friend. At first i didn't love how far away from all the action this place was but after 2 days of seeings how busy the "action" areas were we were very happy to awake up to a quiet resort.The view posted is exactly what you get. Unit was clean. The beach there doesnt look like much but there is good snorkeling there and its a quick 10 minute walk to a bigger beach. Check in and out was super easy. Was pleasantly suprise that there was some beach accessories. Well worth booking this unit, except for when I want to go again, then dont book it so I can have it!!!

Loved this place! Everything exactly as shown in the pictures. Great location with beautiful views and easy access to everything. The grounds are kept immaculately, pool was never crowded, put-put course was great, and ABC store through side gate was super convenient. The unit has the most comfortable King size bed and kitchen has everything you need. They give you a starter pack of garbage bags, dishwasher soap, laundry pods w dryer sheets, coffee filters, etc. I brought extra but didn’t need to because what they provided was enough for us for 10-days. They have a closet with books and games, along with coolers and beach chairs. Great newly remodeled bathroom with strong water pressure and beautiful glass turtle sink. Can’t wait to return and I would rent this unit again.

Great place and experience.

Overall great. Encountered couple minor issues (fan not working, towel hanging rod falling, power outlets). Host communicated promptly, however the maintenance team could've been a bit more proactive on fixing other independent issues at the beginning instead of waiting for me to test the power outlet issue first. Regardless, great experience overall, we'd want to come back again! Thank you!

Beautiful Location and Property

This is the second time we have been at this property. The grounds, pools, ponds, and all of the amenities are lovely and well kept. It is great to wake up and have breakfast on your patio while looking at the ocean. The hot tubs are huge and so relaxing in the evening. Our room was clean, the windows did not have a fingerprint on them, and there were plenty of pots, pans and utensils. A few quick and inexpensive updates could make this apartment just amazing. The hand painted images on the walls, although probably meaningful to the owner, could be replaced with some typical tropical prints. Fixing the curtains and TV mounting in the bedroom would make it more usable. Replacing the broken dolphin and adding a few more decorative items would make the entire place more inviting. The last thing would be to provide salt, paper, and oil/spray. We left our items in hopes it creates a trend and they end up with a spice cabinet for future guests. Even with these few changes we think it is still a great place and we will stay there again.

Good luck

We booked our stay in November of 22 only to have it suddenly canceled by the owner in January of 23. No explanation other than the owner wanted to use it. We had no recourse with VRBO and in fact they were nowhere to be found. We had toscramble to salvage our vacation and ended up paying more for a property that felt substantially less. It was dated and in need of repair. It actually had a bathroom sink with a faucet that was virtually unusable. Only the actual property location and staff managed to salvage our stay. I wont be using VRBO again

Just right!

We loved our stay at Papakea Resort! It was a bargain for an ocean view room! The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed morning coffee on the lanai. Really appreciated the beach chairs and cooler provided. Would definitely recommend!!

Papakea is lovely

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at the condo. It had all the amenities we had hoped for in landing place for our trip. The unit is a bit dated yet everything was clean and functioning. We could easily walk to a beach, food trucks, restaurants, and the property itself had lovely pools with grills nearby.

Beauty spot for solo traveller

This place had what I needed and was very comfortable. Loved spending time on the lanai. This would be a tight fit for a family - the bathroom was small and pull out bed in the living room leaves minimal space, but don’t imagine anyone is spending much time inside anyway. Great kitchen, fully stocked! Appreciated and used the beach chairs provided. Gorgeous property. I would definitely go back again!

We had a Wonderful time!

My husband and I stayed at unit B201. The unit was as described, the views of the pool and the ocean from the patio are great! The locations is within walking distance to restaurants and there’s is a super market across the street. We will definitely stay here again.

Papakea never disappoints

Even though this unit was dated, the property itself never disappoints. We love that it's on the ocean, the pools are great-although it was better when one of the pools was adult only 😊 Sunsets are awesome! We stay at the Papakea every time we come to Maui.

Lovely resort

Nice condo in beautiful resort. The condo had everything we needed including coffee starter, washing machine pods, beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers. It was very comfortable and we loved drinking coffee in the morning on the balcony. The view is very pretty, looking out over the resort toward the ocean. The resort is beautiful, and we enjoyed putt putt and shuffleboard as well as the pool. It is located within easy distance of lots of beaches and restaurants. There isn't a very good beach at the property(its pretty rocky) but that didn't bother us since we had a blast checking out lots of beaches in the area.

Wonderful property

We love Papakea Resort because of the safety, cleanliness and overall location close to the beach, grocery, farmers market and Lahaina. B201 was perfect for our stay, it was clean and had everything we needed. The property management was easy to work with. We would highly recommend B201!

Great place to stay

The location of Papakea is great with restaurants and food trucks nearby. Nice view of the ocean and pool from the property. Convenient to parking lot and pool. The grounds are immaculate. Arriving in March, the air conditioning was not used much. The drawback to the air conditioning is that the unit is on the balcony. So if you are air conditioning the inside, the unit blows hot air on the balcony, making it less pleasant to sit outside. Most of the time if the balcony slider and the bedroom window were open, the ceiling fans were adequate. The slider gets direct sun in the afternoon, so it's a good idea to close the drapes then. We enjoyed our week at Papakea!

Good stay but some unfortunate details

Love the view and the property overall is beautiful and the apartment is more spacious than it seems. There were some things that could’ve been improved: ants in the kitchen, broken towel rack in the bathroom, a completely bare kitchen, and we got locked out of our room at 7 am the first day because of the confusing check-in process (essentially, our card stopped working before the office opened). Overall we had a great time and the property was fun for our toddler, but these details keep it from being a 5 star.

Friendly helpful staff, great location with a lovely view of the pools, hot tub and sea. You can walk onto the grass and see the sunset. The pools are heated, really nice. It’s about a 10 minute Uber into Lahaina town. Therr is a shop with groceries 2 minutes away and there are food trucks near by. Would recommend this place and go back here. The concierge was really nice and helpful. We booked a snorkeling trip, expensive but very fun :)

Maui Ocean Front Treasure

Wonderful and inevthe heart of everything. Lots of great places to eat. Even saw humpback whales from the balcony. Guaranteed to see some beautiful sunsets too!
