Melanie's cottage was wonderful! It is set right on the Appalachian Trail. My granddaughter is thru hiking the trail. I decided to meet her in Hot Springs. She and two of her hiker friends stayed at the cottage with me. It was a welcome respite for the hikers. It gave them a chance to rest, soak their tired bodies in the hot tub, and do their laundry. The cottage was a short walk to restaurants, brewery, small grocery store, and Dollar General, which is very well stocked with reasonably priced food choices. The cottage is old, but nicely maintained with updates that make it feel cozy and inviting.Melanie, The Host, was super nice and helpful. We had a couple of issues that were promptly taken care of. Also,Melanie has been helping me locate a package that seems to have been lost at the post office. She still stops by the post office on occasion to see if it has shown up.You will love this cottage for it's charm, location, amenities, and great host! I highly recommend it.

The home was cute and spacious. We LOVED the hot tub, obviously. It was great for relaxing after a hike on the AT and other nearby trails. The proximity to town was also perfect. We enjoyed eating in town each night of our trip. The kitchen also had everything we needed for preparing breakfast and lunch.

My wife and I had an amazing anniversary stay at this charming, spotless cottage in Hot Springs! The location was perfect—peaceful yet just a short walk to town and close to the Appalachian Trail. The hot tub was a highlight, with a great setup that made it even more enjoyable.Evenings spent rocking on the porch chairs, watching fireflies, were magical. Since our last visit in 2017, the town has added more amenities, and this rental made it easy to access them all.My favorite experience was a perfect day that started with tubing on the French Broad River, followed by a relaxing soak in the mineral waters at the Hot Springs Resort and Spa. We finished our day with a run through the rain to enjoy pizza and drinks at Vinyl Pies, then took a short, scenic, and less-wet walk back home!A huge thanks to Melanie, the property owner, who went above and beyond to make our stay possible. She was kind, responsive, and clearly takes pride in offering a clean, well-furnished home. Her warmth and attention to detail made our trip truly special. Highly recommend!

Wonder Cabin in Town

This is an adorable cabin right in the beautiful town of Hot Springs NC. The view from the front porch is amazing. You are in walking distance to many excellent trails. The cabin is right beside the Appalachian Trail for starters. In a five minute walk you also can be at Big Pillow Brewery, which has delicious beer and a great taco stand. In a six minute walk you can be at Hot Springs Natural Mineral Spa where you can soak in a private tub along Spring Creek. I highly recommend this special cabin in this special town.

Perfect Christmas Getaway

Beautiful little cottage right in Hot Springs. My first love and I wanted somewhere quiet to spend our first Christmas together and this place was perfect! Loved the coffee/tea bar, the bed and pillows were so comfortable (I brought my own pillow because I’m picky about that sort of thing) but I never got it out of our car! Also loved the fact that phone cords were provided! My boyfriend forgot his so that was nice! We really enjoyed the books that were there as well. Found some great stories in them. The hot tub was amazing and super private. Loved the fact we could walk into town and grab food (The grey eagle has amazing taco and burritos) and when everything was closed on Christmas Day the kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything we needed to cook! Def recommend this place! Melanie was amazing!!!

well equipped, had everything we needed. Cold and damp when we arrived. House has a musty smell. Could benefit from the attention of a handyman. Front door takes some work to get it securely closed, heating vents are rusty, some are hanging loose. Steps to get into the hot tub. I was unable to get in, if you're 5"4' and a little chonky like me. Owner was very helpful with suggestions on where to eat, things to do in the area.

Comfortable and convenient

We enjoyed our stay at Trailside Cottage! The AC kept us cool despite unseasonably warm temps outside. I would suggest bringing extra towels if you plan on using the hot tub or hitting some swimming holes. The house was tidy and the bathroom was clean, but there were other details that had likely been overlooked by the cleaners for several weeks. The location is great— not only for walking to town, but just a few minute’s drive away from great hiking and fishing. Would stay here again.
