“Staff were amazing on reception and a shout out to the male manager(?) next door at Beefeater! Excellent service! Room was sufficient for our needs the only thing that would be great would be a smart tv in the room!”

He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. “Lumley Castle is steeped in history. The layout of the communal rooms is a little random and not brilliantly signposted. Staff are all very helpful. Restaurant was good quality. Breakfast good. The rooms lack a few amenities like usb or even plugs by the bed. Soap and shampoo is all that is provided in the bathrooms, which is unusual for a more luxury branded hotel. All small things but would make a difference. but overall it was a very pleasant stay.”

“We had a good stay at Premier Inn Durham North overall. When we arrived, there was an issue with our booking payment. We had already paid through Expedia, but at reception we were initially told that the payment had not gone through and that we would need to pay the full amount again. The receptionist was not very friendly at first and said that this was not their problem, which felt quite stressful after a long journey. “Kaye was communicative and lovely. Her home is a calming respite for busy travelers. The outdoor space is spacious and beautiful, with friendly horses nearby. The bed was a bit soft for us, but the room was very clean. My Way Guesthouse is a very good value.”

“We booked the cottage and were so glad we did. The photos although good, don’t really do it justice. The bedroom opens out onto a spacious balcony with good quality wooden table and chairs. The view is very serene, as you can see the river. The hot tub is really amazing. It was very clean and we were shown how to use it properly. If anything it was a little hot at 40c. It kept this heat for several hours. Bathroom was beautiful. Living room immaculate. And a 2nd bathroom with toilet and shower....
