Unit B103 ground floor
Pros: good price compared to the 4-star resorts. Easy communication with Managment company. Neighborhood is just a busy boulevard lined with older condo complexes and a couple of strip malls, but this complex is across the street from the fish pond which is actually a great calm shallow play area for kids and where turtles come in at dusk. Condo has all the basics, is fairly quiet though you can hear people walking on the floor above you. It’s next to the pool, but has tall plants for balcony privacy. The unit was clean except for window sills and tracks. The pool and hot tub are nice and fully tiled, but surrounded by tacky chain link fencing. The unit is set back off the busy S. Kihei Rd enough that there’s really not much road noise. There were plenty of linens, a few condiments, and full size laundry.
Cons: bed and sofa are queens and not that comfortable. The A/C unit is a wall unit in the living room which means you can’t close the door to the bedroom when you sleep if you want A/C in there. Consider that if you want privacy from those sleeping on the sofabed at night, you’ll need to sacrifice comfort. The faucets are obnoxious. The “touchless” kitchen faucet is very finicky and would cause a divorce if I had it at home. The bath faucet has no way to adjust temperature so you must brush your teeth with hot water. Showers must be taken at least 30 min apart if you want hot water. The unit smelled a bit musty, but improved after we aired it out a few days. The bedroom closet is large and they supply beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards which was handy. The kitchen counter is abnormally high, so if you’re short you will be uncomfortable using it. Overall, it’s got an early 90s apartment feel which is fine for several days, but it’s not where I’d stay for romance or any sort of luxury. We stay at one of the resorts in Lahaina for that, but pay at least 4x the price. If you want to visit Maui and be centrally located with beach access, Kiehi is your town. The beaches, water clarity, snorkeling, and lodging aren’t as nice as Kaanapali or Wailea, but you’ll save some money chosing this condo.
