Pearl River Cottage, South Devon

  • Pearl River Cottage är en speciell plats att bo på. Vi är specialiserade på att våra gäster får fantastiska semesterupplevelser. Vi har tänkt mycket på vad vi kan erbjuda gäster eftersom vi vet att det alltid är mycket nödvändigt att hålla sig in i våra helgdagar. Det är en lugn och lugn tillflyktsort från stadens liv och rörelse. Stugan ligger nära stränderna, Salcombe och Dartmouth. Perfekt för par och små familjer (4 sovplatser).

    Vi erbjuder en hög standard inredning kompletterad med traditionella funktioner, en eldstad med omgivande stenar (med en ny vedeldare installerad 2019) och takbjälkar i trä. Stugan har nyligen haft nytta av ett nytt kökförlängning (2017) som möjliggör en större användning av bostadsområdet.

    På baksidan av stugan finns en privat gräsmatta med trädgårdsmöbler och grillmöjligheter som ger en avslappnad miljö för att äta utomhus eller helt enkelt koppla av i den lugna omgivningen.

Summer stay in Devon

Lovely stay in Pearl River Cottage. The cottage was cosy, but a good size for our young family. The location was excellent for exploring South Devon.

Great little holiday home. Easy to get local beaches and Kingsbridge town. Small but cosy house, well appointed kitchen and nice garden with barbecue. Second bedroom is very small and bathroom is a little bit run down hence the 4 stars instead of 5. All in all a lovely stay though.

Quaint comfortable cottage in quiet village

Cute, comfortable getaway nestled in a quiet street that suited our needs. Hour and a half up Cornish border and an hour to Dartmoor where we had a lovely walk on the forest. Minutes away from Salcombe on the river and the beach. Well equipped kitchen, nice garden and plenty of hot water

Comfortable, cosy cottage

Lovely property. We managed to park outside the village hall every night but it’s not really practical to park outside the property. Good base for exploring the area but limited amount of walking or sightseeing by foot from the front door.

Cottage is quaint. Unfortunately the cottage is a not in Kingsbridge as mentioned in the listing which meant driving in to Kingsbridge which we wanted to avoid.

Good

Cosy, generally clean, some dust in places. Host left us some milk, bread etc which was appreciated. Good size for 2 of us.Garden is fully enclosed but there is 2 short gates either side of the door which you can't see in the photos & a trellis gate which you could see through. Didn't feel secure enough for us.Unless you get the parking space outside it's a bit tight for other cars to pass so a couple of times we parked in the community centre which wasn't an issue. It's still very close Good location for us

Could have been better

Very bad start as owner hadn’t remembered our booking so the cottage had not been cleaned, linen changed etc. Took us about 90 minutes, including Verbo, to get hold of somebody to help. Someone did come round and clean the property about 2.5 hours after we arrived. The cottage itself is very nice and no complaints about it. Unfortunately the cottage next door had scaffolding erected and work going on so noisy at times and there was a dachshund constantly barking which was hugely frustrating. We both fell ill during the holiday which is clearly nobody’s fault but forced us to leave on the Thursday rather than the Saturday as planned. It’s a nice cottage in what I guess is a normally quiet area but this wasn’t an experience we would choose to go through again. Think we should have been warned about the work going on in the cottage next door as a minimum.

Not as described.

Property states itself as in Kingsbridge. It’s not. It’s in the next town. Says you can walk to Kingsbridge. You can’t. It’s a long walk on a difficult and hilly road. It’s says it has parking. It doesn’t. It’s a very hilly narrow lane way where if you park extremely close to a rock wall one car might be able to pass you but your car is at risk. We chose not to stay. Asked for a partial refund and the owner was not interested.

Tolle Zeit

Niedliches kleines Cottage. Alles vorhanden, was man benötigt. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und wir haben das Frühstück im kleinen Garten sehr genossen. Der Kontakt mit den Eigentümern war immer problemlos möglich und sie standen uns bei Fragen jeder Zeit mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.

Perfect for a quick get away

This was our first get away as a family. Perfect location for the classic Devon seaside towns, beaches with easy driving reach. The house was cosy with plenty of space.

Well equipped cottage

Nice easy walk into Kingsbridge. Lovely lunch at The Crabshell Inn. Appreciated bread, butter , milk and hot x buns on our arrival. It was nice to find a dog bed in the lounge and also 2 dog bowls in kitchen as I had forgotten to pack mine. The garden was small but we were blessed with lovely weather and it was a nice place to sit in the morning sun. The shower was nice with good water pressure and the double bed very comfortable. Nothing negative to say apart from the fact that I didn’t like to park by cottage as wasn’t keen on parking close to brick wall but it was not a problem as able to park in Village hall car park 2 minutes walk away

Fantastic Week

The cottage is great. Clean, great location and has everything you need for relaxation and day trips out. If you have children under the age of 10 the bunk beds are perfect but would be small for older children. We parked our car in the village hall car park as the road is quite narrow but it’s only a 30 second walk away . The log burner is great for the evenings and the tv has Amazon prime and Netflix so you can just log in. All in all very good 👍🏻

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pearl River Cottage. It was a home from home with all the mod cons. Particularly appreciated the washer dryer! Lovely garden. Comfortable bed.

Fabulous Cottage

We stayed at Pearl River cottage twice- a week in May and 10 days in June. Superb location on the outskirts of Kingsbridge but the location was a bonus - very peaceful and an easy walk into town. We would definitely ask to stay there again. The complimentary breakfast food, milk etc was a much appreciated bonus.

We really enjoyed our stay in Pearl River Cottage. There were a few things that needed attention - shower heat control not working properly - but we mentioned this to the owners and they intend to rectify promptly.
