I närheten

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Soundfront condo

The location of this condo is lovely. Close enough to downtown Duck, but removed enough from the hustle and bustle. It is right on the water on the sound side and about a 10-15 min walk to the beach, depending on how fast your kids walk. The walk is pretty steep up hill, be advised. It is dated (but you can see that from the pictures) but perfectly serviceable for our family of 5. My only critiques would be to update some kitchen items (you have to hold down the toaster lever to make it work, no Keurig, no microwaveable dinner plates, LOTS of spoons but few forks, no empty cabinet to store food) and the carpet (it has that stale carpet-y smell like maybe there have been pets here before). My favorite part of every day of our vacation was sitting on the deck with my morning coffee looking out over the water or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset (BEAUTIFUL).

Disappointing

The location was very nice. But, this condo is old and has not been well maintained. Repairs and deep cleaning is required.
