Mountain Getaway
Steve and Denise are wonderful hosts, have put a lot of thought into making sure guests have everything they need and there are many artful finishing touches. The views from the porches front and back are spectacular. My wife loves mountains--this was another way to experience Maui!

Perfect spot
We were up and out early both days after having breakfast on the upper deck and ending the day with our glass of wine on the same deck. So peaceful and relaxing! The views are spectacular! If ever back in this area again, I would definitely come here to stay.

We were not at the house for Carrie’s brief visit, but she left the house in great condition. I would look forward to meeting her next time and have no problem recommending her for other hosts.

Incredible views, ambiance, and location
This incredible slice of paradise that Steve and Diane have created is amazing. It's a multidimensional retreat with living room on the bottom, loft at top, with two very different balconies: one facing east the upward slope, the other, larger and facing west down the slope. The larger one I set a portable smart telescope on which had a decent southerly and west view of nicely dark skies. In two weeks, Janet and I stayed in 7 different places, and Steve&Diane's place is the best! We'll definitely be back.

Wonderful stay in upcountry
The property was great, perfect location to visit Haleakala National Park. There were plenty of unique shops and restaurants around Kula and in neighboring Makawao and Pukalani. If you’re looking for an incredible sunset view on Maui, this is the place to stay. The view from the lanai on the second floor and the rooftop balcony is stunning. You see almost the entire island with Haleakala directly behind you. The hosts, Steve and Diane, were friendly and helpful. We had a bit of an issue with the door lock not accepting our code but Steve and Diane were quick to rectify it. They were very welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable.

Extreme attention to detail- exquisite!
This spacious apartment has the charm of a Quebec boutique bungalow. The owners’ attention to detail really surprised me- it is such a pretty place with a front deck overlooking West Maui for sunsets and wonderful clouds for sun rises. I highly recommend staying here.

Good stop to see volcano
We wanted to visit the volcano in the afternoon and following morning. This place provides a great location to do this. Accommodations were very good and the hosts very nice and helpful with tips for visiting the volcano. There are two wonderful decks as part of the unit which were great for sitting.

Breathtaking Views Above Maui
This was our last stop in our visit to Maui, and we came to agree with the hosts that we saved the best for last. The space is impeccably furnished, decorated with a cute, unique layout and has unparalleled views across multiple decks. I took my mom on this trip but this spot was super romantic and I wish I could go back with my girlfriend! As another reviewer mentioned, worth noting that on the first floor the hosts' kitchen is separated by curtains, but once they retire for the night it should feel perfectly private. Even just driving to this part of Kula is a scenic treat and something different if you are mostly visiting the more traditional coastal regions of the island. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and their detailed restaurant list came in handy.

Upcountry paradise
We enjoyed this location immensely. Steve was a very accommodating host. And the views from the property were incredible. We enjoyed sitting on the patio every evening watching the sunset. The bed was very comfortable too. The space is quiet and allows you to relax and take in Maui. Only note I would make is that the unit is a part of the host's house. The living area is separated from the host's kitchen by a curtain. So you can hear the hosts and it isn't entirely private. However, the bedroom space and patio upstairs has a more private feel.

Great upcountry retreat
This is a beautiful property with wonderful views. There are two balconies, one facing the valley and the other facing the mountain. Both are lovely. The owners live onsite in a separate area of the house. They are extremely friendly and helpful if you have questions or need recommendations. Note that there isn't a full kitchen for guests to use, just a mini fridge and microwave. This was fine for us since we ate at restaurants or had take out, however, you couldn't cook a full meal. The bedroom did have an AC unit but we didn't need it since upcountry is much cooler than the beach areas. The driveway is steep but I had no problem getting up it in my rental Chrysler 300. Overall a great place and this property had my favorite views of all the places we stayed on Maui. Highly recommend.

Propriétaires très accueillants , d'une extrême gentillesse. Partie de la maison louée très spacieuse , chambre à l'étage , grande salle au Rdc. Les propriétaires vivent dans la maison dans l'autre partie. Une vue dégagée depuis la terrasse pour le coucher de soleil. Une autre sur le champ derrière ou l'on peut apercevoir (c'était mon cas) des hardes de daims. Le plus c'est la bulle gonflable sur la plateforme supérieure ou l'on peut dormir et apercevoir les étoiles. Quartier très calme , place de parking sur la propriété. Je recommande

Sojourn in paradise!
The architecture of this home is unique and spectacular, affording glorious views of the sunset and the islands floating beyond, as well as a 360 degree panorama of the night sky filled with stars. Everything in the property is immaculate and state-of-the -art. Coffee and tea always available, fridge and microwave provided. Luxurious linens. Steve and Diane were friendly and helpful hosts with lots of recommendations and directions to local (terrific) eateries. Cannot recommend highly enough, and would love to stay here again!

Great stay with excellent views of the stars
Our stay for one night at this property was great! Both Steve and his wife were very helpful and gave us insight to the area. Bed was comfortable and the view of the stars from the top deck was great!

Stunning views
The owners (who were incredibly kind and hospitable) clearly took great pride in their property. It was stunning and had many welcoming and practical touches. We loved relaxing in the space after a long hike and didn’t want to go out again in the evenings— the views from the multiple porches were too lovely to waste! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to any friends hoping to visit upcountry Maui. We’re so glad we spent multiple days in the area.

Best view ever!
Fantastic view of Mt. Haleakala from the bedroom/bedroom lanai. And beautiful view of the island, Kahului, Molokini, and even Lanai from front deck. No kitchen, but a microwave, small fridge, dishes and glasses right by the bedroom. Definitely recommend staying here!

Great stay, friendly hosts
We stayed 2 nights in mid-January. The area is very accessible, lots of things to do, good restaurant recommendations from the host. Everything was extremely clean, all the amenities provided that you would need. There were rooftop patios to view sunrise and sunset, stargazing etcetera. We would stay here again if given the opportunity!

Amazing Accommodations and Views
This B&B was a great find for the last couple of days of our vacation. It is a perfect location to Haleakala and upcountry with stunning views of the mountains and Central Maui. Stephen had great food and activity recommendations and you can tell they really enjoy meeting their guests. Very well maintained property and far exceeded or expectations!

Gracious and flexible hosts, fabulous Up Country location, a few challenges
A gracious and generous host, Steve is very responsive to texts. He makes a fruit and pasty breakfast for his guests, coffee and tea available whenever you want. Just be aware, Steve is loquacious and his pastries are from Safeway. There are good bakeries nearby in Kula or Makawao if you want more gourmet (ie, Grandma’s Coffee House, Haiilimaile General Store). An even more truly gourmet bakery is Maui Bread Company in Kihei, a trip well worth taking for those who love great bakery (ie, a truly wonderful banana nut bread with lots of nuts in the dough). Steve also gave us some really good recommendations (ie, Kula Grill and Casanova restaurants were terrific; the hike in the rain forest outside Makawao was delightful). Our accommodations truly fit our needs to a great extent. The views are terrific on the lanais on either side of the upstairs bedroom area. One side is the view of the rest of the island and the other side is a view of the mountain landscape, often with few cattle roaming through it. Most of the time you can enjoy or escape the sun on a lanai as you like. Additionally, the living space on the first floor is spacious and the extra bedroom was great when my husband snored heavily after a day of snorkeling. The first floor furnishings are lovely and functional, the bathroom with sink and shower are quite sufficient. The host provides many items (sunscreen, hairdryer, insect repellent, etc.) Be aware the upstairs sink is a little tricky (warm not hot water, low volume, and tricky hand activated mechanism), the stairs to the second floor are a bit steep, and the king bed is hard to sit up in and read because of the slanted ceiling… and there is no chair for reading inside on the second floor. We enjoyed our stay and would easily recommend the place for those who are interested in seeing the sights of Up Country.

Wonderful views!
We have been to Maui before, but wanted to explore more of the upcountry. We were very please that we did. Our accommodations were perfect. Our hosts, Steve and Diane were top notch. Making sure we had everything we needed and gave us excellent recommendations on places to eat, etc. The place was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again :)

Amazing bi- costal views from front of house, top of neighborhood location. Backyard was the slope of the volcano green pastures with cows!!!!!!! Peaceful and beautiful. Very clean and straightforward accommodations, owners friendly and helpful.

Very nice people, but...
The hosts are very hospitable and kind. Also, very knowledgeable about the area, if you have any questions. The sleeping quarters have a wonderful view and are very private. However, the carpet was visibly dirty and the pillows needed to be replaced. Hopefully these details are attended to soon. Mahalo for the stay!

Hi Melissa, thanks for the review. Regarding the carpet; a previous guest had spilled something (coffee). We had it cleaned, but there is still a color difference by a shade. However, it is Clean and regularly vacuumed. I could have back-charged the previous guest, but that seemed a little harsh for such a minor imperfection. Regarding the pillows; there was (and is) a pile of pillows and blankets next to the chest of drawers. If you did not see it, I wish you would have asked me. The pillows are all new and zipped into a sanitary liner. The cases are washed after every guest. Hope all is well for you and yours. Aloha, Steve
