Perfect Highland cottage for four on the shores of Loch Long, a magical body of tidal water that stretches into the mountains from iconic Eilean Donan Castle.. Locted on the eastern side of tidal Loch Long, only a short walk from picturesque Dornie, Lag Cottage is a brilliant Highland croft cottage dating from the 19th century. It has been in the same family since being built, and has just been renovated in 2020 to a high standard.



Right on the sea loch shore and enjoying mountain views across the loch and to the rear. Highland croft cottages don’t come much better than this. After passing magical Eilean Donan Castle on the outskirts of Dornie, you pass through the pretty village complete with shop, hotel, restaurant and bar, all right on the water, and only several hundred yards up the loch you reach Lag Cottage.



Set in a wee enclosed garden right on the water, it has direct access to the sea loch for kayaking/canoeing, and if you have your own boat there is a mooring you can use; there is a slipway at Dornie a couple minutes away too. Entering through the front door, there is a vestibule to keep boots and coats. The hallway leads off in two directions; to the left is the large, modern and fantastic kitchen that has everything you will want and need during your holiday. It has views across the loch to mountains, and out to the back is the five-acre croft and craggy hills. At the other end of the cottage is the living/dining room with large wood burning stove, again with views to the front and back. Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom and equally spacious twin room, with a good-sized shower room between them. All rooms are bright and enjoy lots of light.



The garden is a small, enclosed space around the house, separating it from the croft; the surrounding area is what you will want to explore though. There are excellent walks up to the headwater of Loch Long and into the mountains, and only a short drive away will get you to other amazing trails. A little further away you have the Kintail Sisters with many amazing routes, and of course the Isle of Skye and all it offers. It’s an excellent base to explore the area of the Highlands & Islands. Shop 750 yards, pub and restaurant 900 yards.. 1 step to entrance.
