The city of Aralsk in the Western part of Central Kazakhstan used to be next to the Aralsk Sea. However nowadays the sea is almost disappeared and what’s left in the city is places like this. There used to be a harbor here but since the water is gone so is the harbor as well.

Old rusted ships are scatted along the shore of the receding Aral sea. The booming cotton industry in the south has slowly drained the lake. Very recently, efforts have been made to restore the lake to its former volume. Soon this ships will gone.
