Ellis Cabin, affectionately named after my grandfather, is a thoughtfully designed space created for a comfortable and immersive experience in nature.
Nestled on two private acres bordering BLM land, the cabin offers stunning views of the Mosquito Range and is minutes from some of the best outdoor recreation in the Rockies.
Inside, we’ve curated a warm and inviting atmosphere with designer touches, art books, a king-size Casper bed, and everything you need to feel at home in the mountains.
Just over the hill from Twin Lakes, Mount Elbert, and Mount Massive, this secluded cabin offers a true retreat into nature. Situated on two acres bordering BLM land, it’s one of the most private homes in the area.
Thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, the home is oriented to capture breathtaking sunrises through the great room windows. The spacious deck offers stunning views of the Mosquito Range and the Arkansas River Valley, while the exterior features natural materials like authentic Japanese shou sugi ban for a modern yet organic aesthetic.
Inside, the space is furnished with vintage designer furniture, curated art books, and a fully stocked kitchen—everything you need to feel at home. For those who need to work remote, the cabin is equipped with high speed Starlink internet.
The primary bedroom features a king-sized Casper mattress, blackout shades, mood lighting, and a closet for storage. The lofted secondary bedroom includes two sets of twin-sized stacking beds, which can be unstacked and rearranged to accommodate up to four guests.

• Buena Vista – 30-minute drive
• Aspen – 45-minute drive (accessible from May–October when Independence Pass is open)
* PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING *
The cabin is above 9,000 ft, and the roads leading up to the cabin are not paved. There are inclines and descents that may be intimidating to some drivers. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is required to access the cabin year-round.
In the winter, road conditions can vary greatly depending on recent snow, freeze, and thaw cycles. The last mile approach to our cabin requires previous experience driving in snow. Although some cars may be fine with just 4WD, we highly recommend studded snow tires or chains in the winter. Please message me prior to booking if you have any further questions!
As an add-on, we do have the option to rent an AWD vehicle with studded snow tires.
The cabin has a basement unit with a separate private entrance that will not be accessible to VRBO guests. This unit is not pictured or described in this listing post. The basement unit is occupied by tenants. They are kind and quiet and will keep to themselves during your stay.
Available add-ons:
• AWD vehicle with studded snow tires rental
• Pet cleaning (required for stays with pets)
