House on Quicksand Pond...close to beach

Private home less than 3 miles from desirable South Shore beach on Quicksand Pond. A private and peaceful home located in beautiful Little Compton, Rhode Island on 8 acres of land. Enjoy a vacation surrounded by stonewalls, meadows, on the pond, and only a short bike ride to the beach.

Renovations recently completed including fresh paint, new carpets, new bathrooms, air conditioning and all new linens and bedding. The first floor has a large kitchen set up for anyone who loves to cook. The first floor has an open plan with plenty of space to relax with family and friends. The first floor also has a kitchen with wood stove, full bathroom, sunroom, living room and office with a pullout coach (queen size) and television. The second floor has three bedrooms, two with a queen beds, a full bathroom, and the master bedroom with a king bed with its own bathroom soaking tub and shower. The third floor is perfect for kids with two bedrooms; one has a set of twin bunks and two additional twin beds, the other bedroom has a full bed. The basement has a washer and dryer, ping pong table, and extra refrigerator/freezer. Outside enjoy the large yard that leads to the pond. Sit by the fire pit and watch the swans and deer over a cup of coffee or a cocktail. Plenty of space for outdoor yard games. There is also an outdoor shower to clean up after a beach day and a new grill and a large outdoor table that seats 10.

We have two kayak (one kids kayak and one adult one) and a skiff (a flat bottom row boat) for you to use on the pond. There are a few beach chairs, beach wagon, beach toys, a cooler and beach bags for your use as well.

Close to Newport, Boston, Cape Cod or only a ferry ride to Block Island, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. Enjoy beautiful beaches, nature trails, local vineyards, boating, surfing, organic farm stands and restaurants.

Beautiful property, manicured, expansive and well groomed with a pond in the back…what could be better?! Comfortable outdoor furniture for dining, great outdoor shower and lots of space inside for sleeping, socializing and eating together. Baby cousins played together and the beaches nearby were perfect. Comfy furniture too! Work space was great for those working virtually also. Loved it!

Magical Family Vacation

We were welcomed with a plate of Little Compton themed iced sugar cookies...a delicious start to our stay!The well maintained property was tucked away down a country road and sat on Quick Sand Pond. It was pastoral and beachy all at once...spectacular.The house was roomy, immaculate and well stocked.Tons of stuff to do in the area: beach, breweries, hiking, or just hanging out in the yard.The owners were easy to reach and quick to respond to the few questions we had.Highly recommend this property.

Family enjoyed this house and yard!

Grandparents, 3 sons and families, 4 grandchildren ages 12 to 17stayed and house fit all of us very comfortably! Played games in house and in the backyard! Biked and rowed to the beach! Some of us drove! House had everything we needed! Hosts were very helpful!

Beach week

My family had a great week in Little Compton despite less than ideal weather. The property is very private and beautiful, great place to just sit outside and socialize. The house is well equipped and accommodated both the adults and kids. My one complaint is the lack of shades in the 2nd floor bedrooms. The early light meant that the children especially were waking up much earlier than usual.

Great visit

This is a nice house on a beautiful piece of land. It had more than enough room for the five of us, and the kitchen was well equipped. The pictures of the outdoors really don’t do justice to what a lovely spot it is. We also really enjoyed exploring the area.

Exceeded Expectations

When looking for a place for our family Thanksgiving gathering I was not confident we could find something that would meet our needs. We wanted something 'nice' but not too precious that I would spend the weekend worrying about the kids damaging something. And we couldn't pay some of the outrageous prices we were seeing. This place fit the bill. it was upscale while still feeling homey and comfortable. And the price was fair. I appreciated the 'extras' such as a folding table in the basement, extra folding chairs, and a fully stocked kitchen. The Primary Suite had a very comfy King bed, a huge closet and the redone bath was luxurious. The owner was quick to respond to questions. There was a firepit and a pond on the property. More than one TV which was nice too. We highly recommend this place.

Another wonderful stay on Quicksand Pond

This is our third year staying at Quicksand Cottage. We love the setting on the pond, enabling us to kayak, fish and swim right from home. And it is an easy trip to the ocean. Because the weather was not on our side, we spent a lot cooking in the great kitchen, watching the Olympics, playing pingpong doing puzzles and playing games. The house accommodates people doing lots of things in different spots. It is an easy place to relax in. Sara and Jeff are terrific hosts, very responsive and helpful. We love staying here!

Wonderful week

This was a beautiful, well equipped house. 2 separate eating areas (one indoor and one outdoor) provided plenty of space for our group of nine to have family dinners. The yard is spacious with plenty of room for games, a fire pit and yard chairs provided. Owners were lovely and made themselves available but not intrusive. Pond was terrific for kayaking.

Quicksand Cottage

Fantastic house with everything you could possibly need in an ideal location close to everything. Sara the host (owner) is always available and responds quickly to any request or questions you may have. We have been renting in Little Compton for many years and will return for our 3rd stay here - its the perfect vacation home for our large family !

Nice place for group getaway

This property is as advertised - lots of space for a group getaway. The property is secluded on lots of land. The owners are very engaged and respond to questions promptly. There is a nice grocery store nearby that has everything you could want. I definitely recommend this property!

Lovely property and home

We had a multi-generational family staying for a week, and we couldn’t have been happier with the house. It had plenty of room to stretch out, and also to gather together. The grounds are amazing, and we really enjoyed the kayak/boat access on the pond.

Another wonderful stay at Quicksand Cottage

We spent two weeks enjoying the house and its environs, our second time here. The house is perfect for our needs: plenty of bedrooms with comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen and lots of space indoors and out for games, reading and gathering. We were able to eat outside under the stars almost every evening. We love being able to kayak right from the house and there are really nice walks and bike rides as well. The hosts are responsive and clearly care that their guests enjoy a carefree time at the house. We will return!!!

Perfection!

Our house on Quicksand Pond was everything as promised and more. There was plenty of room for the 13 of us, plus everything we needed for cooking, eating, and beaching. It’s a great location for getting to South Shore Beach where we went every day for the week. Only thing missing was an umbrella for the outdoor dining area. With young kids we were eating early so the sun was still out in full force. But what a beautiful spot!!! Thank you Sara and Jeff for being such great hosts and providing everything we’d need for a fabulous family vacation.
