The dinner in the restaurant was excellent as well, and as a guest at the hotel you get the chance to go on the complimentary Battlement guided tour. âMatfen Hall really is outstanding, my stay was faultless.
All staff were so warm, welcoming and helpful- I was greeted upon arrival with a welcome drink and my bags were taken up to my room whilst I checked in and relaxed in the Great Hall.
Every nook and cranny of this hotel is gorgeous, beautifully crafted and fabulously furnished, including the room I was allocated. It was a generous size bedroom and dressing area with a huge bathroom, stunning views and light and airy in the daytime but warm...
âPros - quick check in , lots of parking, lovely clean room, big bed, good tea tray, a bath rather than a shower
Cons - could hear music from pub (might just be me being an old git)â

âEven though I turned off air conditioning room got very hot so disturbed nights sleep but everything else I cannot fault. Reception, bar staff all excellent.â

âWe have stayed at Slaley Hall a few times and always enjoyed our time there, it is our 'go to' place for a mini break. The Spa is very relaxing and the treatments/therapists are excellent. The staff on reception, the dining room and bars are all friendly, welcoming and willing to help. Big shout out to Marcus on reception who kindly offered to help get our bags from the car as my husband has mobility problems. Thank You , we will be back :) â

"As part of a trip through the area we book this extremely valuable place. Beautifully decorated, nice and cosy bar area and cosy rooms which however were extremely cold and heating did not work.
