Review for La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Forsyth
We stayed March 28, 2026, after an 11 hour drive with our two young boys and specifically booked this hotel for the pool.
Before booking, I did my homework. I checked the hotel’s website, read through recent reviews from the past few days to months, and even received a welcome email after booking that clearly stated the pool was open from 9am to 10pm. Everything consistently pointed to the pool being available.
After checking in, we found a sign on the door saying the pool would not open until April 1st. The front desk told me it has actually been closed since October and is waiting on certification.
That is a pretty big disconnect from what is being presented. Amenities like a pool are not a small detail when choosing a hotel, especially with kids. Paying full price under the assumption it is available and then finding out otherwise is frustrating.
What really stood out was being told guests still enjoy sitting by the pool as an amenity. That is like offering breakfast but the food is not edible. Technically it is there, but it is not what anyone came for.
I was also told to call ahead next time to confirm. In 2026, that feels like a step backwards. Information online and in confirmation emails should be accurate. Because of this experience, I will likely start creating a simple questionnaire for future hotel stays so I can get key amenities confirmed in writing ahead of time.
