The Space:
Beckford Tiny House 1 by Tiny Away is a charming rural retreat in Marchmont, just a 50-minute drive from Canberra. This cozy, tiny home offers sweeping views of the front paddock and a large dam, providing the perfect peaceful getaway. Close to Murrumbateman’s wineries and the natural wonders of Wee Jasper, it’s also within reach of Canberra attractions like the National Arboretum, Cockington Green Gardens, and the Canberra Walk-In Aviary.
A comfortable, 139-square-foot accommodation and best holiday homes in Marchmont with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities (e.g., an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're booking for a group, we also have a second tiny home, "Beckford Tiny House 2," available with 24 hours' notice in advance. To ensure guest privacy, the tiny homes are positioned 20 meters apart from each other.
Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny home and surrounding areas. The main house and areas down the other driveway are restricted. All paddocks have restricted access, animals can be met over the fence along the driveway.

Beckford Tiny House 1 by Tiny Away offers a straightforward countryside experience 50 minutes from Canberra in the locality of Marchmont. Perched on a hill with views over the paddocks and dam, our holiday homes serve as a perfect base for exploring the Yass Valley region. Known for its agricultural heritage, wineries, and close proximity to outdoor attractions like Murrumbateman and Wee Jasper.
Murrumbateman is a rural hub for cool-climate wines and gourmet produce with wineries, local markets, and a growing food scene. In Canberra, Cockington Green Gardens offers a family-friendly experience with detailed miniature buildings and landscapes from around the world.
The Canberra Walk-in Aviary lets visitors wander through a lush environment with more than 500 free-flying birds that can be fed by hand. The village of Wee Jasper is known for its rugged landscapes, limestone caves, and reserves that are ideal for camping, bushwalking, and exploring. The National Arboretum in Canberra showcases 94 forests of rare and symbolic trees along with the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection for a mix of natural beauty and conservation.
Getting Around:
By Car:
- From Sydney: 3-hour drive south, 230 km from Campbelltown.
- From Melbourne: 6-hour drive north, 600 km from Melbourne Airport.
- From Canberra City: 50-minute drive, 60 km from the city center.
- Beckford is reachable by 2WD. Note: 5 km of dirt road from Yass to Beckford, and 12 km of dirt road from Murrumbateman to Beckford.
By Public Transport:
- Yass has a train station. A taxi service is needed to reach Beckford.
- Directions from Beckford to Yass: Turn left onto Gums Lane, follow to the end, then right onto Wee Jasper Rd into town.
By Flight:
- Fly into Canberra Airport, then a 50-minute drive to Beckford using the directions above.
Other Things to Note:
- Wifi is not available
- Gas BBQ Grill is available
- Smoking is not allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Please note that full pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- Please be advised that we have free-roaming farm animals (and potential noise) on our property
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Mobile reception has a good signal for Telstra and Optus; Weak signals for Vodafone and no signals for the rest
- A compost bucket will be provided for the collection of food leftovers, which will be fed to the chickens on the property.
Important note:
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
- As Beckford is a working farm between several much larger farms, there is a potential to hear gunshots at night when farmers are out culling feral animals. This is very limited and can only be heard occasionally, and not for a long period.
