“Peaceful and beautiful! Fall asleep to the sound of the river. The kitchen is well-equipped and functional, and the lounge gave us plenty of room to spread out. We had access to a beautiful private garden as well. Note that there are very few services in Canonbie-the closest grocery stores are in Gretna.”

“We all absolutely no complaints on our stay, the properly was cleaned for our arrival and we even had a cake with some wine left for our arrival. I only gave 4 stars for accuracy of online listing due to the maps location on the posting did not match where the location actually was and we got a lil lost but a quick call with the host and we found it. ”

“A lovely cottage with a beautiful location and very friendly owners.”

“This is a fantastic cottage in an adorable village. It has rolling hills, a burn and lots of sheep! The cottage itself was quite large and was fit for our family of 6, including adult children and their spouses. It was clean, decorated well and rather comfortable. There are amenities within walking distance such as a pub, museum, etc. We wished we had stayed longer and we'll definitely return!”

“We enjoyed the stay very much. A beautiful property with a small river and lots of wildlife. Just the thing for nature lovers. The kitchen was well equipped, so self-catering was easy.”

“Warm and cozy sleeping with the shutters and curtains drawn. Respect the house, switch on the pump if you light the fire, and yes I loved the wood smoke smells, it is mostly round the fire, if the fire is only embers you can switch off the pump, it's circulating the hot water from the fire, I was able to see local interests and the wonderful fresh air, excellent countryside. The ruin of Carmicheal House makes me wonder at its one time beauty, and it's just a short walk to from the cottage,...

“Having stayed in Wanlockhead for a week at the end of June 2021, this property seemed like an ideal overnight stay during a house move from the the South Coast to Aberdeen. Within easy distance of the M74 and very peaceful. Loved the bold décor. Excellent nights rest , the downstairs bed was very comfortable and the property spotlessly clean.”

“What a magical place. The cottage itself is very charming and supremely cozy (if you can accept interior design that not bothered in the slightest by the dernier cri); the vast Carmichael property, on which it is located, with its paddocks, forests, mystical ruins and a dog cemetery holds enough beauty and enough secrets to uncover for weeks, and everyone we came in contact with was very friendly. Highly recommended, hope to be coming back at some point. ”
