Disappointing
The bones of this home are solid and may one day make for a great family getaway. We spent 6 nights before/during hurricane Helene; this is my first ever negative review. But as the one who books the rentals, I was embarrassed to have selected this for my family. Communication was terrible, the property/amenities need attention, and the mgt co is uninformed, unresponsive and not focused on delivering a great getaway. No response when I reached out from my VRBO acct 48 hours before check-in until I called the VRBO number. What I thought was contact for an owner was a large mgt co with properties in 3 states, with some affected by Helene. We found the HT dirty, both upper/lower deck littered with leaves, dirt, cobwebs, and the screened in porch filthy. I requested attention and they sent a capable individual for the HT who also cleared the porch drain and eliminated the straw, cigarette wrapping, and teeth flosser. No one else came. No response when I requested 20min early check in for our first car carrying an infant, nor when I texted about managing the generator which ran all day. Info regarding a coffee maker, locale for a boat launch, and electricity on the dock were all faulty. The dock is unusable except for sitting/diving- we launched daily from the boat trailer. Kayaks are broken, dirty. Things are run on a shoestring: cheap hotel supplies, no tissues, limited toilet paper and laundry detergent. Kitchen has no peeler, can opener, nor wine bottle opener.
