“This is our 2nd stay at this property as we have celebrated New Years with friends two consecutive years. Everything was as good as the first time. No snow this time and lake wasn't quite frozen, but the property was still fantastic. There is so much space between the 2 buildings that even with a large group plenty of beds for everyone. Kids (and adults) love the game room.”

“Great little cabin for a quick getaway! The cabin was very clean and the beds comfortable. Our lab enjoyed exploring the yard and we enjoyed a bonfire, while grilling steaks. Nice and close to town. The location couldn't have been better. Excellent communication from our host throughout our stay. We'll definitely be back again!”

“The Archer Log Cabin was sweet and comfortable with a full kitchen, bath and laundry. It even had a little desk in the laundry room. The bed was comfortable . We only used one of the two bedrooms. The surrounding woods were peaceful. We enjoyed hiking on trails in the state park and hope to get back sometime in the winter to cross country ski. We appreciated the coffee . We will be back. It was a quiet place to rest and refresh.”

“The deck needs some attention, the fireplace was so great. We made use of the kayak and paddle boat. Love the lake. My wife and I walked down to it at night and sat on the bench for a while.”

“The retreat was exactly as pictured and as described. It was incredibly cleaned and stocked with any and everything that we needed, that we may have forgotten, including a first aid kit. The extra surprise was the plunger in the bathroom, which gave us a great laugh. Loved it and would definitely come back. Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was relaxing and peaceful and that’s exactly what we needed.”

“The property is on Wheeler Lake, which is a great lake for fishing and watersports. There's a sandy public beach nearby that you can visit for $5 per person, and the boat launch is fairly close. Lakewood is five minutes away. The cottage is older, but has been nicely remodeled with two newer bathrooms, a modern kitchen and numerous other updates. There's a nice deck with a table and six chairs overlooking the lake, so we spent most of our time outside. The dining table only sat four, but it is...

“The cabin was just adorable and the owner was gracious enough to provide a welcome basket of goodies and supplies. The only problem we encountered, which was absolutely not a huge deal for us, was that the WiFi password was not provided. We possibly located it but what we found did not work for any of the available networks. Again not a deal breaker but if this is important to you make sure to discuss before booking. Also to be noted, the cabin is VERY VERY secluded. Being a woman with 2 small...

“Everything about this place is amazing. It is the definition of Northwoods and has a fantastic history behind it. We really enjoyed the small perks that it came with, toiletries that may have been forgotten, first aid equipment, baking supplies, games and movies. The TV was a little difficult to figure out, as someone who doesn't use cable. We are definitely making plans to come back in the future.”
