“My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay and Pria was wonderful with the therapeutic massages. The only thing we wish the resort would consider improving on is the coffee. Living in the northwest, coffee is a big deal. We had hoped to see a coffee bar or we could get our morning latte. We were both disappointed to find that there was only pre-brewed coffee in a carafe in the lobby. “The Balch Hotel is a really nice place. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They even found some stamps to enable me to mail hotel postcards from Dufur despite the Post office being closed. I also appreciated the period charm and decor. The structure and furnishings are in a good state of repair yet still maintain an authentic period look. I would definitely stay again in the future.”
“This is an older property, though we appreciated the updated carpet, decor, and a sizable flat screen TV in the room. The room and public spaces were clean and tidy. Note that the hotel does not have the "typical" Hampton lobby or breakfast area layout. The low ceilings and narrow entry/front desk area are a bit off-putting, especially if guests are expecting anything similar to most Hampton floor plans. Unfortunately, our 3rd-floor ceiling "creaked" with any movement of the upstairs guests...
