What a treat
The photos don’t do this property justice - it’s truly spectacular and such a peaceful spot, we loved the thoughtfulness of the owners in both the layout and attention to detail. Such a special place and we will definitely be back.

Restful and relaxing
We went down to celebrate a milestone anniversary and we hoped for a place to rest and relax together. Peter and Vicki were the perfect hosts. We had all the information and support necessary while being given the absolute maximum amount of privacy. Peter was more than willing to help, have a chat and give us information about anything. The property is lovely, well equipped and overlooking paddocks, grazing cows and chirping birds. The pool is the perfect way to cool off when it gets hot. And we were welcomed with come of Vicki’s gluten free brownies that are to die for. Thank you Peter and Vicki. We highly recommend this property and its owners.

Delicious chocolate and amazing views
Lovely quiet property with gorgeous views. Perfect for getting away from it all. Vicki and her husband went out of their way to get the pool set up when my kids requested to use the pool despite it being October and pretty cold. The chocolate shop was a real treat. A great place to stay - would love to go back sometime!

Lovely get away!!
Neatly presented rammed earth cottage. Lovely hosts!! Plenty of firewood supplied to keep the fire going day & night. The kids enjoyed visiting the chocolate shop, at the property entry. Having the cafe on site was also excellent. We enjoyed hang-out in the loft & taking in the views across the valley

Brilliant
This property and accommodation is magnificent, the pictures really do not do it justice. Much bigger than it looks. Clean and tidy, super comfy beds and that fireplace just warms the whole place. Would recommend and definately stay again!

The house is spacious and homely with two living areas. The wood fire in the kitchen/dining area with a well stocked wood box is excellent. Vicki was welcoming and delightful and provided us with a guided tour of the house. She also supplied additional milk and extra fire lighters just in case we needed them. The chocolate shop in front of the accommodation was a real treat.

Fantastic getaway!
What a fantastic property and incredible hosts to spend a week. The accommodation was beyond our expectations! Was the perfect family holiday with hosts that where more than willing to accommodate. Amazing property!
Great accomodation which oozed character. Setting is so beautiful and there is absolutely everything you need. The owners Vicki and Peter are delightful and very welcoming. The chocolate emporium at the front of the property is a must to visit. We highly recommend!

Loved it!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and neat. Well equipped and friendly reception. We would've loved a walk on the property but I'm not sure if this is allowed and to be honest we didn't get time to ask. Kids loved the swimming pool, very thankful entertainment for them. I would recommend taking DVDs as I forgot, with poor phone reception and not being able to watch TV. Day two we bought some uno cards that worked a treat. Would've been a bonus if there were games left for the kids, but more just mentioning to take some for the kids. Bedding was all clean and tidy. Enough blankets left. Middle double bed was very soft to our liking but nothing major, just a mention. We loved our stay, the kids loved buying chocolates and we would definitely return if possible.

Hi Marika , I am glad you enjoyed your stay . I am surprised you didn't mention the TV wasn't working when we spoke Saturday. As this is unusual, I also mentioned to your guests that arrived first to let us know if any issues as we could have easily rectified this for you . Just a note on games , we no longer provide these as we made the decision with Covid as they may be a possible cleaning issue . Regards Vicki and Peter

Really lovely owners, great communication and made us feel very welcomed. Chocolate and coffee shop at the front of the property is amazing! Very quiet and peaceful, would recommend to family and friends.

Great property with a peaceful rural outlook. Clean, comfortable and with lovely touches like quality handwashes, etc. Very accommodating hosts who had the place cosy and warm with the fire on to welcome us. Will definitely be back!

Lovely Private Holiday Home
Myself and three friends stayed here for 2 weeks and had a lovely time. Vicky and Peter were very gracious hosts and provided an excellent holiday getaway. The house itself was warm, well-equipped and spacious with a tremendous view out back. Additionally the surrounding areas of Balingup (about 8mins away) and Donnybrook (about 20mins away) were beautiful and welcoming. Would highly recommend this stay.

Great location for peaceful getaway
Lovely property that's been cleverly positioned to offer peace and privacy even though it's near the highway and main house. Owners were lovely and very helpful. Lots of nice touches like wine, strawberries and chocolate. The pool was perfectly maintained and very welcome on a warm day. Nice neighbours too... donkeys, ponies and highland cows! Happy to recommend and we'll be back.

Long weekend stay
Myself and two friends recently stayed at The Stables for a weekend getaway and were pleasantly surprised with the spacious and well equipped cottage as well as its location and proximity to Donnybrook . Our very friendly hosts welcomed us with freshly baked bread and a bottle of wine and were most helpful with information about the area and local places to visit. The cottage is well appointed and extremely comfortable with attention focused on providing a relaxed and homely feel. The private and fenced pool was a particular highlight and was the perfect place to take in the local bird life. I would highly recommend The Stables and very much look forward to our next visit.

Wonderful Stay
Thank you to Vicki and Peter for their wonderful hospitality. The warm bread and brownies during our stay were such a warm gesture and quickly devoured. The house was clean and had everything for a 'home away from home'. The pool was a reprieve from the heat during our stay. Thank you both and we hope to see you again one day!

The owners are very kind, willing to help if you require anything and also leave you to your own privacy. We were greated with complementary eggs, milk and a bottle of wine. The house was very clean, all the little things you hope for in a home away from home have been thought about. It was very comfortable. We visited in summer and enjoyed the pool with country views but I also know the fire place would make a nice cozy winter. Clean skies gave an incredible oppurtunity for star gazing and the local town delivered on quality food. Highly recommend and would stay again.

The BEST Rustic Retreat
Vicki and Peter truely are super hosts. The property was spotless with every need taken care of including fresh local, free-range eggs, milk and local wine. We were even treated to Vicki’s decadent chocolate brownies. My sons still talk about this! The property had everything a family could want. So much room, privacy and fantastic pool area. A great place for relaxation and rest. We will definitely be back. Loved it!

Fantastic Accommodation and Hosts
House was absolutely lovely, very homely and super comfortable. Actually a lot bigger than I had anticipated from the photos. Vicki and Peter are delightful hosts who offer a really thoughtful and relaxing experience (fresh bread, wine, tea, coffee, milk and nice quality linens and amenities). Pool is a great extra, and is warm so you can swim even on the cooler days. The house is at the rear of their property, and although situated very close to the South Western Hwy, this really doesn't impact on the experience or a good nights sleep. Well located and close to many things to see and do (Ballingup/Bridgetown/Nannup). Nice coffee shop a 5 minute walk up the road (left) , open 730 Saturday and 830 Sunday. Only disappointment was their dogs weren't included with the house for the weekend :) Will definitely stay again, would be nice to have a week there.

Comfortable house with lovely country view
The house was superb, in fact better in real life than in the photographs. There was plenty of comfortable seating in the lounge, kitchen and outdoors. The beds were cosy and the house stayed quite cool despite the hot weather outside. The pool was also a great bonus. The personal touches around the house were greatly appreciated, like welcome wine, hand cream and lovely decor. Thank you for a great stay.

Fabulous country home
We had an amazing time staying at this lovely home. Very spacious, clean and with amazing view, pool and very friendly and generous owners. Local eggs, milk, strawberries, wine and freshly baked bread waiting on us at arrival. What a treat. Vicky and Peter where fabulous hosts and live in such a beautiful part of Australia. Only thing to note is that this property is close to the main road.

Our Getaway

This place is a hidden gem. Everything we wanted and more. Wood fire, fresh bread, eggs and wine for us on arrival and all the little amenities that made it feel like home. Just what the doctor ordered. A winter retreat.
This was a cold wet wintery get away for us. Just loved it. The place was warm and cosy with the fire going, a picturesque view from the windows made all the more special by the rain and mist. Our hosts Peter and Vicki made sure we had everything we needed and pointed us to the best eaterys.

Perfect Country Retreat
This clean, spacious, rustic charm mud brick house with its beautiful log fire and Country surroundings was a perfect escape for us. Couldn't fault it at all. It had everything. Vicki and Peter were wonderful hosts too.
