“Everything about our stay was wonderful. Our hosts made a great effort to provide all the amenities that would make our stay easy and enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed the secluded location, the birdsong, and the geckos and other wildlife that visited from time to time. The location was also convenient for trips north to the beach and south to the volcanos. Should we make it back to the big island, we would happily stay at this same property.”

“This was our second time at Rick’s Place and we were not disappointed. We stayed on the property 3 days and explored the island other days but made a point to be back to see the gorgeous sunsets. Dolphins came by almost every day, and we even saw a shark. Dan is an amazing host and easy to deal with. We really enjoyed connecting our iPhones and playing Spotify through his stereo system. Nothing better than listening to your favorite tunes while enjoying the incredible views from the patio deck....

It is such a peaceful spot to begin each day- beautiful views, exquisite gardens, bird watching etc. Five minutes from the national park and very easy to go back and forth if you need a rest or simply want to have your meals at home. “This is the perfect place for a quiet family getaway. House has everything you could ask for with comfortable beds and pillows. Full kitchen with spices on hand. Game room and dvds on first floor. Incredible views from balcony and snorkeling sets, kayaks, boogie boards etc. Private, primitive snorkeling site that can be reached scrambling over lava rocks (stairs washed out)- Not for small kiddos or anyone needing assistance, but most people would have no problem, especially since it’s so private...

“The property is nestled away from traffic yet close to the water. The apartment has ample space for three generations, as was our situation. Beds were comfortable. Food prep was easy. Snorkel supplies were available. We did not want. Catherine and Anna were available to assist as needed with dining recommendations, beaches and anything else.”

Given the house is a bit out of the way from restaurants, we were so happy that the house was well outfitted for cooking.The beach towels and equipment were great to borrow as well! Make sure you rent a vehicle that can handle inclines - a 4x4 would be best! We would love to stay at this property again!”
