Practical Notes

Guest have access to entire house except garage.

Lake Access: The private lakefront parcel — with dock, cabana, swim mat, and kayaks — is just across the street from the house. It’s about a 20-step walk through a stone archway down to the water.

Road Crossing: Guests must cross a two-lane road to access the lake parcel. While not a highway, cars can move quickly, especially on weekends. Please use extra caution and closely supervise children and pets during crossings.

Mobility Considerations: The first-floor master suite with ensuite bath offers a step-free stay for guests with limited mobility.

The yard has a natural slope and stone steps leading to outdoor spaces and the lake area.

The house and property were beautiful! It was well appointed and supplied all necessities plus. The cabana and the extras like floating devices were great to have. We swam in the water and used the canoes. The basement was LOADED with fun games that everyone participated in. They even had a kids area, including toys for infants!! Communications with the host were very responsive. We had zero issues and enjoyed our stay here. We highly recommend this property!!!

Perfect Multi-Family Getaway!

The house and hosts are absolutely incredible! Perfect for large groups or families. The basement adds a massive extra space for hangouts / activities / games without disrupting anyone asleep. House has everything you could want in a lake rental. The private lake area is great being in a cove, only downside of this property is the walk from the house to the steep steps going down to the water which would be tough for olde generations.

Great property, would stay again.

We had a great time staying here. This house was perfect for our group, with plenty of space for an even larger group. We had two couples and two teenagers. It was nice having two master suites, so each couple had a spacious bedroom with their own full bath. Each of the teenagers had their own bedroom upstairs, and a full bath to share. We easily could’ve had a few more people, especially if they were kids. The kitchen was set up well for cooking, we made multiple meals, and had some local friends of ours over. The grill worked great, and there were extra propane bottles if we’d have needed them, which was a nice touch. We also had a nice little fire in the fire pit at the lake. Though it was a bit chilly the week we stayed for really enjoying the lake, it was well set up for swimming, kayaking, or chilling by the lake. The hosts were very communicative and easy to deal with, and the house was exactly as described. Everyone in our group said they’d stay there again, and recommend to others.

A beautiful home with a great lakefront environment

The Hosts were extremely nice and helpful in the entire process. They answered questions and helped me understand the offering so I could book with confidence, The home is spacious and welcoming in design. It was fine. Nothing exceptional.

First I will say that the owners were communicative and the check in process was easy. They also had a website set up to add things like an early check in etc which was a nice touch. The house was clean as well. The house was fine, however I wouldn't say it was anything special. First the description of "waterfront" is doing a lot of work. The property is not on the lake because the lake is across a very busy road. Second what was provided was very bare bones. For instance there were no bathroom rugs. There was also nothing left out to clean the counter. Even for a short stay it would be nice to wipe off the table or the counter. Also two things we were looking forward to: 1. Being able to use the Nespresso machine but they were out of pods 2. Playing the arcade cabinet but the up arrow was broken it seems like a previous guest was a bit rough with it. In summary, the area is pretty and I'd consider staying at Candlewood Lake again but for the price we probably would not stay here.

Beautiful stay at lovely home

This home is quite lovely and the manager/owners were very responsive throughout booking and during our stay and were very easy to work with. The waterfront area is fantastic, however, it is across the main lake road, and while the speed limit is 25 mph, most cars are going well above that. There are quite a few stairs to get down to the waterfront which is not obvious from the listing photos. This presented a challenge for my 86 year old mother and sister with knee issues. So this is something to be aware of when planning the trip. The kitchen is very well stocked with cookware and the living room furniture very comfortable and held all of our guests. I would definitely recommend this property but with the road and stairs down to the waterfront, it may not be ideal for everyone.

There's something for everyone at this house!

Despite not the best of weather, our entire family had an amazing time! The house is perfect for our extended family and the location is great! The lake area and toys made for entertainment and fun for all ages- there's something for everyone! Owners are super nice and responsive making us feel very comfortable with all the house amenities. Great family vacation

The house was just as pictured and perfect for our family. We had our three sons, their wives and our 7 grandchildren. We spent many hours down at the lakeside, playing in the warm water. We also rented a boat from a nearby marina for a couple of days so it was nice to have the dock that could accommodate it. Overall, a great place for family fun!!

Great Family Stay on Candlewood Lake

Our family of 10 had a lovely time at this beautiful lake house. The house is comfortable, spotless and equipped with everything we needed. Lots of indoor and outdoor space and the play room in the basement was a bonus. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming. They were quick to respond to any questions we had. The lake area with the dock and cabana was our favorite spot to hang out. We rented a pontoon boat on two days, and all enjoyed exploring the lake. This was a great vacation’s for all of us—we’d love to return sometime soon!and we hope to return soon.

6 adults + 6 children + boat = great time!

This was a perfect long weekend getaway for 3 families of 4. John and Elizabeth were extremely responsive from the time we first inquired, to checking in, to when we left. They answered all our questions as quickly and easily. Check in / check out was a breeze. Regarding the property, the house itself was comfortable for the 12 of us, but we were really only there at night for dinner and morning when we woke up. We spent the entirety of the days at the lake across the street. We enjoyed grilling and eating outside at the house on the patio. Kids spent the mornings and evenings playing in the game room in the basement, while we hung out in the kitchen. At the lake there's a nice grassy area by the water that's about 50%-70% shaded during the day depending on the sun's position, so you can easily cool off in the shade if you'd like, or you can sit in the sun on the grass or on the dock. Also there's a cabana with seating, fans, electricity if you have infants or napping kids. The kids and 1 adult:) spent almost all of their time in the water or fishing. The water was gorgeous, (70+ degrees for end of May). Bottom had some rocks but was mostly sandy. For reference, water visibility was much better than Greenwood Lake (NY/NJ) and Sacandaga (NY), but not quite as good as Lake George, but super clean. The dock was great for hanging out, fishing, and held my 21' i/o perfectly. We would definitely book again! Thank you, EJ!

Amazing location, house and property!!!

We loved our stay here, the lake is just stunning and the house is very comfortable and thoughtful in how they stocked everything. We had a small breath work retreat at my healing center, and this is where we housed the facilitators and a few guests and it was the perfect spot for lake access and meals. Highly recommend! The hosts were so nice and accommodating to all of our needs!

Adult family gathering

This house was amazing for my husband and I to meet up with our adult children and their partners. We hung out on the water during the day kayaking, boating, water skiing, knee boarding, body boarding and just floating around in the water or hanging out in the dock. At night we played outdoor and indoor games or hung out in the game room. We were disappointed that the elephant flea market down the road was closed that weekend due to rain but it didn’t stop us from having fun at the house. Stores were within minutes for anything we needed as well as places to eat. Since it is close enough to us we are looking to go back.
