Pretty renovation, intrusive noise
The streets where this is located seemed safe, fine generally. The area of Irvington seems to be underinvested in, so lots of trash around, and the street parking is wild (parking on main thoroughfares leading to cars zigzagging around and sudden stopping) if you're not from NJ. Doesn't affect the rating of the place though, just be aware of that.
Pros:
- The building is newly renovated
- Finishings in the bathroom and kitchen are really nice, the space itself was decorated in a cute way
- Very responsive to questions and issues with getting into the vrbo, times instructions were sent to us for check in/out
Cons:
- The walls/floors between the top level and bottom are way thin. We heard actual words of the conversation of the people above us, not to mention the crazy hard stomping, and door slamming at most hours of the evening. Partially due to the people not being super considerate, but the way that it could echo through the lower level was due to poor insulation.
- There are only pillows provided for the king bed, so we ended up splitting 2 of the 4 provided for the trundle beds. When we looked for more there were two other pillows that were literally maybe an inch thick and stained. Pillows are a typical offering and it was very surprising to have that issue.
- Biggest issue: there was active construction happening in the basement on our arrival and during the ENTIRE day on Friday. No word that that would be happening and it literally woke up everyone.
