“Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage. “Spititual and interesring trip where we learned a lot about the specific Kukai buddhist religion, went on the cementary night tour and visited a lot of the temples. We joined the morning and afternoon meditations and everything was great - only the western turists were being unpolite and disrespectful in these ceremonies. The munks who are in charge of the whole hotel are really nice and helpful. Food was delicious! ”
