We want to take a moment to address this review and provide some clarity on what you can expect when staying at our property. Our property includes a separate short-term rental unit where we, the hosts, may occasionally stay. This is clearly mentioned in our listing description under "Guest Access". In light of the review in question, we feel it necessary to explain what prompted our limited interaction with the guest. The guest’s vehicle was in a highly dilapidated state, with broken windows secured with duct tape, a barely attached front bumper, and visible trash inside, not to mention a car battery being charged outside the vehicle. This unusual situation, combined with the frequent arrival and departure of multiple vehicles, was out of the ordinary for our peaceful neighborhood and caused two of our neighbors to reach out to us to inquire. This prompted us to review her VRBO profile and noticed she had only one other review and it was 1 star, yet she was still able to instantly book our place through VRBO. Given the neighbors' concerns and her negative past, we reached out to her to confirm how many guests were staying at the property, as she had only registered herself and her child. We always encourage guests to enjoy their stay and understand that visitors may stop by. However, it is essential that all guests are registered and if you expect lots of visitors, give us a heads up. It’s worth mentioning that, to date, we have never told a guest they couldn’t have visitors. On Amanda’s last day she asked if she could check out late. We accommodated her request, but made it clear she needed to be out by noon as our cleaning crew needed to get in. Unfortunately, at 12:20 our cleaning crew messaged us asking when she would be leaving. I messaged Amanda, and she never responded. As we kind of expected, the house was a mess. What we didn’t expect was the rug with animal vomit on it and us needing to replace it. We share this not to dwell on a negative experience, but to affirm our commitment to creating a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all our guests. To future guests, know that we are dedicated to your privacy, comfort, and support during your stay. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of care and cleanliness. This isolated incident is not reflective of the experience we strive to provide and that so many of our guests have come to love and expect.
