Välkommen till Hale Ohana hem hemifrån !! Boende i en söt, klassisk, 3 sovrum 50's Hick's House strax utanför Hilo i en lantlig miljö för budgetmedvetna resenärer. Detta är ett utmärkt boende för en familj eller en grupp vänner som reser på en budget i ett nyligen inredda äldre hem.

Classic boende i ett sött, Vintage 3 sovrum, Hick's House strax utanför Hilo. Huset visar sin ålder en bit, så det är prissatt mellan en budget och ett regelbundet hotell. Bekvämt beläget på Hawaii Belt Road, mycket nära början av 4 Mile Scenic Drive. Hawaiianska tropiska botaniska trädgården och Onomea Bay ligger drygt en mil bort. Hemmet är också mycket nära Hilo (4 miles till kanten av Downtown) och mycket lätt att hitta. Det är idealiskt beläget för människor som besöker Hamakua Coast (Akaka Falls och även Waipio Valley).

Hamakua Hale Ohana Country Retreat är ett utmärkt boende för en familj eller en grupp vänner som reser på budget och vill inte bo på vandrarhem eller betala höga hotellpriser för privata rum. Det är till och med meningsfullt för en enda person eller ett par där ett komplett kök och icke-delat utrymme är viktigt. Vad du får är ett fullt hus istället för bara ett rum för ungefär det lägre priset på ett anständigt hotellrum. Medan denna lilla gamla damen i ett hem alltid kommer att visa en viss ålder, har jag gett hennes rynkor en hiss med Brand New Appliances och en nyligen renoverad. Hon är en söt liten granny som är välkomnande och sparsam. Alla Basic är f��r en klassisk 50-talets Hick's House.

Bekvämt beläget på Hawai'I Belt Road är det enkelt att få platser mycket lätt men bekvämligheten kommer med det extra bullret från en del trafik (bilar som går, inte bilhorn) och det kan ibland höras från sovrummen. Med det sagt kan du också höra strömmen som strömmar under backen från 2 av sovrummen, eller vinden blåsar genom bananstränderna från den andra. Det här är ett landsbygdsområde med ljudet av grannens getter och koens frolicking i deras vidsträckta gård i söder och ja, Coqui-grodorna sjunger sin symfoni varje kväll. Gröna Geckos hänger runt och äter myggor, så de är alltid en välkommen gäst.

Det ��r en trevlig, bekväm och enkel miljö för dem som vill bes��ka Big Island och har en lätt hoppning av poäng f��r allt den har att erbjuda, men vill inte spendera en förmögenhet på logi.

Rummen är kompletta med queen size-sängar, byrå och garderober.

Gästerna har tillgång till ett fullt utrustat kök med ny spis och kylskåp, badrum med ombyggd dusch, handdukar, tvål och schampo, tvättstuga med ny tvättmaskin och torktumlare och andra faciliteter i mitt hem. Great plantation home outside of Hilo

The home was very easy to find and just a short drive outside of Hilo town. Entry into the home was easy however the inability to unlock the front door did have me worried that I would end up locking myself out. The home itself is super cute and filled with just about every amenity you could think of. The only fault I found while at the home was that because I am a light sleeper, did walk up when vehicles drove by but would definitely stay here again.

Nice private place

The house is right next to a stream so you hear the sounds of frogs singing all night.lots of towels and linens . Air mattress. Great deal. Would come back for sure.

Big house, great location, but plastic covers on mattresses?

Great location, near Hilo, but doesn't get it's traffic. Property is dated (which isn't a bad thing), but clean. Huge space, room for my family to spread out which was great. The only reason for less than perfect score was all the mattresses were wrapped in plastic. Like a plastic case that was intentional, not like saran wrap that they forgot to take off. For a place that had no AC it made for some uncomfortable and sweaty nights.

Close to volcano,10 mnt to downtown, and great kitchen

We love the going rate and this house. The surrounding is really lucious green. You can hear the creek softly. At night you can hear more creek animals. I love the noises and how dark it could get outside. We love the kitchen and their appliances. We also love how they supply all the basic needs ie. Soaps, towel etc. Laundry is awesome. The only cons are a typical cons just like anywhere in Hilo. It's a older house so the window screen has gaps or opening. If they can improve by just closing the gaps at the window screens, we will give the remaining star. Overall, we are very appreciative to the owner and the management. We had a great time in Hilo.

Could have been a lot better

Entry to the property is bizarre at best. Arrived at night and missed the driveway twice. See Google Earth for details. Difficulty with initial entry. Had to make at least four attempts before the lock worked. Was immediately hit with a heavy musty odor. The house could benefit from a couple more dehumidifiers. Two irons, no ironing board The stove stopped functioning. While using the griddle, blew a breaker. The entire kitchen is daisychained so everything in the kitchen went out. No access to the breaker box. Luckily, Vacasa earlier in the day supplied as with a 50 foot extension cord. Otherwise, the food in the refrigerator Would have spoiled. Was told that the issue with the stove is ongoing with the owner refusing to replace it. The house is charming enough, and had we not had the problems that we did, we would have given this a much better review.

Loved it!!

I was pleasantly surprised with the spacious room in the house, especially dehumidifier in our bedroom (very nice accommodation to have) & beautiful artwork on the walls. Not to mention privacy, didn’t have to hear neighbors maybe just cars passing every now & then but otherwise it was totally fine. Was great to have that washer & dryer, boogie boards & umbrellas helped us a lot on outings!! The cookies was a nice touch, so thanks for that. Overall, I miss that place compared to the next place we had to move to, but will definitely remember it if coming again.

A old house

The location of the house is good and only 8 minutes to Hilo downtown. And it has a lot of space in the room. But the house is too old and smell bad. There is always big noise from outside for the bedroom where we slept. Only one day before we left, we found it is because one of the window behind the blinds cannot be closed and there is a note on the window that says the window is broken. Many other windows do not work. It is a very old house and need to be updated.

Great Space for Team or Family. Home away from home.

I was worried there may not be enough room for all of us. This was the last rental available in the area we needed for a very busy weekend. Upon arrival we were absolutely delighted!! Super private home, lots of yard/garage space. Living room was a great size with nice large windows for natural light. The bedrooms were big and each had awesome big closets and built in dresser/vanitys. Bathroom was also big, shower and a separate bath, another built in vanity area. FULL kitchen, dining table to eat at and open laundry room with a back door to the garage. We love a big vintage home! They also had a coffee maker, toaster, waffle maker, all the hardware for cooking and baking. Perfect home away from home. The stream or river next door was also just SERENE. We loved having the windows open to let air & nature feels run through out. Fans/ac units were available but we didn't need to use them at all. We love Hilo & we loved this home. There was 5 of us but you can definitely have at least 3 couples + folks/kids staying in the living room. The living room sofa bed needs a new mattress/spring but I slept on it anyway okay. Aside from that SO AWESOME. Thank you!! This was definitely one of the highlights of our stay.

Quality Time

We love the set up, the house accommodations make you feel that you are at home and the nights are relaxing listening the the nature and the rain make it better, we would love our time, Hilo down town is a Hawaii small town setting. also we found a lot of local people selling Coco's within 3 minutes from the house, and 10 minutes from the farmers market. this was a perfect vacation and relaxation,

Great place for the price!

Property was clean and accommodating. The kitchen was stocked with appliances and everything we needed. There were fans in every room. The only bathroom had a tub and a shower. The house was dated with a few cosmetic issues that could be repaired. Overall great place for the price!

A really good week

This home is older with some upgrades completed but it was roomy, great bedrooms, lots of common area for the 7 of us, and all that we needed for a great stay. When the stove needed an electrical fix, they were out the next day to solve it—a couple of other minor glitches were also fixed promptly. The Vacasa people couldn’t have been better to us!

nice clean basic home north of Hilo

We had short stay here. The house is spacious and was clean. Only one bathroom for 3 bedrooms, and there is no Lanai but there is green vegetation all around. it is located on a busy road so not as soothing but if you like to have an easy place to crash and like to be out and about as well, this house does make sense as a base to explore.

Spacious house, good location, but it is a jungle out there

The house was clean and spacious. It has a well-equipped kitchen and it is close to key attractions such as Akaka falls. In general, the house is well-maintained, although on window could not be fully closed. The managing company were very responsive. The house is adjacent to a Hawaii' belt road, so it can be somewhat noisy. Also, it is in a jungle area, so while very pretty, the night noises were extremely strong. If you're a light sleeper, do not come to this place. Otherwise, the place is great.

Just what we needed!

If your family is like ours, and you are used to the country, this is a wonderful place to stay! The bedrooms were large and the kitchen was well equipped for us to be able to cook a variety of meals with a full-size refrigerator, oven, and stove. The washing machine and dryer were also appreciated for our family and kept us from over-packing, so we were able to just do carry-on for our flight. While there is some road noise, it is easily drowned out by the river and frogs outside and a fan (as well as the rain!) each night. Very conveniently located just outside Hilo. Expect to make friends with the house geckos, relax, and enjoy! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

An enjoyable stay in a home with 50's character

This pleasant, older house was about 10 minutes from Hilo, 6 from the Botanical Garden, and 5 from picturesque Honoli’i Beach. The photos are good representations. Nice Hawaii-themed art appeared throughout. The number of electrical outlets was limited; power strips helped. The bathroom had a vanity area with a ring light, but lighting over the sink was dim. A window with glass slats next to the sink couldn’t be closed; not a big a problem, despite chilly February mornings. One bedroom window sash was broken, and others had poor fits, but enough worked okay. We didn’t need the portable fans, but used the strong dehumidifiers. The small kitchen had several countertop appliances that shared one outlet. Utensils and cookware were good; dishes were bright and cheerful. We moved a floor lamp in for more light. The small laundry off the dining area was great. The drier vented inside, though, which set off the hallway smoke alarm, so we opened the laundry windows and closed the door from the dining area to the hall. One side of the house borders the Aleamai Stream, with lush tropical plants. The other side overlooks fruiting banana trees. The front has potted plants and coqui frogs, who serenaded us at night (which we enjoyed). The front door lacks a latch; we looped a rubber band around the handle to hold the door closed if we stepped outside. In front is the 2-lane Hawaii Belt Road. It is closer than the online photos suggest; there was pretty constant highway noise. In the back is a small yard. Over a short fence is a large field and farmhouse, with a cow pasture up the hill. Very pleasant, with colorful songbirds visiting, and a landing outside the laundry room to sit and observe. There were lots of spiders outside the windows, spinning webs from the eaves, but we never saw one inside. Geckos were mostly outside; one or two inside didn’t bother us. We needed help from Vacasa 3 times: for an internet outage (a bad line elsewhere), a plumbing issue, and a chirping smoke alarm in the closed-off basement. Dane came up from Hilo quickly each time, and was cheerful and efficient in solving the issues. Thanks, Dane! Despite detailed directions, the driveway cannot be seen as you cross the Aleamai bridge until it is too late to make the left turn. We put red reflectors on either side of the driveway, but it is a good idea to go slow, and learn the road signs just before the turn. We have fond memories, and would stay here again, quirks and all.
