Orton Hall, Royalist Suite

Orton Hall är ett 1700-tals Jacobean Manor House omsorgsfullt omvandlat till självhushåll sviter dela en stor hall och sex tunnland trädgårdar med gräsmattor, fontän och skogar.

Den kungliga sviten i ett sovrum på bottenvåningen är full av charm med ett heltäckat vardagsrum med öppen spis och en "hemlig dörr" genom bokhyllan till resten av lägenheten.

Den kungliga sviten rymmer två i sovrummet i en king size-säng med plats för en barnsäng att sova en bebis eller småbarn. Bekväma hopfällbara sängar finns tillgängliga för upp till 2 extra gäster i vardagsrummet.
Badrummet är separat till sovrummet med toalett, badkar med dusch över och handfat. Köket har en spis med spis, grill och ugn, kylskåp med isfack, mikrovågsugn, diskmaskin, brödrost, vattenkokare och fullt komplement till matlagningsutrustning och redskap. I vardagsrummet finns en stor TV med BT Vision och DVD-spelare tillsammans med ett omfattande bibliotek med böcker och DVD-skivor, soffa sittplatser för 4 och ett matbord i buktfönstret.

The Royalist Suite är självhushålls lägenhet men du hittar en gratis startleverans av kaffe, te, mjölk, socker och kex. Sviten är också fylld med förbrukningsmaterial, inklusive tvättvätska, handtvätt, diskmaskin, köksrulle, tinfoil, toalettrullar, salt & peppar och matolja.

Det finns en tvättmaskin och torktumlare i det gemensamma tvättstugan. Båda är myntbetalda och accepterar £ 1 per last.

Handdukar och sängkläder ingår, som är gratis medlemskap till North Lakes Spa i Penrith under hela din semester där du kan använda gymmet och uppvärmd inomhuspool eller koppla av i bastun, ångbastu och jacuzzi. Du kan också boka behandlingar eller massage på extra kostnad.

Den kommunala storalen har en stor öppen spis, biljard och barnflygel och är ett bra utrymme för avkoppling. Om du inte tycker om matlagning, serverar den lokala byn puben, bara 300 meter, mat och många bra restauranger ligger inom bekvämt räckhåll från Orton Hall med bil.

Den kungliga sviten vid Orton Hall erbjuder en semesterresa för din korta paus i atmosfäriska omgivningar i en av de vackraste delarna av landet. Beläget i Eden Valley i Yorkshire Dales National Park men på tröskeln till Lake District och alla dess charmar, erbjuder den en perfekt bas för att utforska denna vackra del av England till fots, med bil eller på cykel.

Overall the accommodation is looking tired, the photos don’t show the bathroom which is the room requiring the most attention. Wallpaper in the bedroom starting to come away at the skirting board in some places. The mattress is very soft, we prefer a firm mattress but that is personal choice.The display panel to work one of the electric heaters was broken so the heater wasn’t usable. We reported it to the host. We found a dirty baking tray in the oven, used by someone previously I guess, we washed it. The information in the guide folder on the table is dated 2013, probably due a refresh.The apartment is spacious with a lovely view over the front garden and has charm. The host is easily contactable. Kennedy chocolate is well worth a visit.

Stunning accommodation in a beautiful setting. We had an amazing, relaxing time at the Royalist suite. Great location to explore nearby towns. Access to the spa is a great bonus, though very busy in the afternoon. Wish we could have stayed longer, will be back for sure! Stephanie was a great host.

A walk back in history

Amazing property . Loved the carved wood ceilings and wood panelled walls not to mention the secret door. Never seen so many books outside a library. unfortunately didn’t stay long enough to read any. Also a vast selection of DVDs. The communal lounge was magnificent, we didn’t use it but were very impressed. The rest of our accommodation housed everything we needed and was clean and functional. The bathroom maybe needed updating but maybe I am nit picking, plenty of hot water and at a good pressure. The grounds both to the front and rear of the property were well tended with several benches to sit on and admire the views. Stephanie was extremely informative both before our arrival and on arrival. We did several walks in the area using the information booklet provided.

Nice stay but NO hot water.

The property was quite old fashioned and had its own charm. The cleanliness was spot on and the whole process of check in was great. Unfortunately we had no hot water at all during our stay and whilst the property manager attempted to get this rectified she was unable to due to a fault on the water system. After a 20 mile hike the need for hot soak was high but we had to travel 30mins to get a shower! We asked for a partial refund due to having no basic amenities however received no response from this and all communications ceased. I would not recommend this property or would stop here myself again due to unreliability of the water system and the inability to communicate with the property manager after the fact.

Amazing

Stayed in the Royalist Suite for a short break with our daughter and found the place just totally amazing. Stephanie was friendly and provided accurate local and check in information. Orton Hall, and the Royalist Suite are stunning and just next level opulence. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, but we hardly used it, as the George pub is literally 5 minutes walk and the food fab, with a very friendly landlors and staff. The grounds of the Hall are great, and, despite the damp weather had a couple of strolls and spotted a couple of cheeky red squirrels and a multitude of birdlife. The village is quiet, but not so remote that you are cut off, and in addition to the pub has a shop and fcafe in the chocolate factory (an absolute MUST!!). You are within a 10 minute drive of the M6 with easy access to the lake district. We wouild absolutely stay here again.

Lovely

The property was very much as described. The lounge, with it's oak panelling and bay window was a delight to spend time in, the addition of the bookcase door was a real novelty. The kitchen was very well appointed, the bed was soft, with a heavy (possibly down) duvet. Not exactly my preference, but still comfortable and definitely warm. The bathroom was fine, although the hot water was occasionally short lived, it was easily managed. Overall, my only gripe was that it was a touch chilly, not what I was expecting when booking, although it was clearly pointed out in the detailed information we received after booking. Thankfully it was a warmer than average February weekend so again was manageable. We would definitely consider a return visit and recommend Orton Hall to others.

Brilliant mini honeymoon

My husband and I got married in January and as our baby was 10 months old at the time, we decided to go for a relaxed, UK based honeymoon. We love the Lake District so quickly settled on Cumbria, and then we discovered the accommodation at Orton Hall. We booked the Royalist Suite and absolutely loved our stay. What a cosy, characterful apartment, equipped with everything you need, including shelves of DVDs and games and a very well-equipped kitchen, which was so handy with an infant. The location was also great as Orton is close to main A roads and motorways but also only a short drive into the National Park for walks or meals in towns such as Keswick. There is also a great hall / common area with sofas, a pool table and a grand piano.The landlady was very lovely, helpful and responsive. On the last day of our stay there was a bad storm that led to temporary power outages. She made it possible for us to stay an extra night at short notice and checked in with us throughout the day to make sure we and the little one were ok, which was very kind.I'm sure we will stay here again for wedding anniversaries and I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in comfort and with period charm!

A beautiful surprise

Absolutely loved our stay here, the secret door was the topper to a wonderful placw to stay. Yes it wasnt the warmest before the heaters kicked jn but there were.cosy blankets, additional heaters and a the warmest duvet ive ever slept under! Loved the great hall and the pool table.

great stay at Orton

We stayed as a family and my daughter loved the bookcase door. The property has all the comforts and amenities that you need and really enjoyed the history of the place. we wish we were there longer as it's lovely base in Lake District.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here such an unusual place having a secret door was great fun and not something we have come across before .parking was easy internet speed was good plus the tv has Netflix and there are lots of books and dvds to choose from ,the kitchen and bathroom was a bit dated but very clean and perfectly fine another joy was watching the red squirrels playing on the lawn right outside the apartment.
