Beautiful location in the secluded woods

  • This is your peaceful and serene nature getaway with an off grid appeal. It is secluded and beautiful and borders the Shawnee National Forest boundary. It is right on the wine trail in southern Illinois, with plenty of orchards and famous hiking trails such as Little Grand Canyon and Pomona Natural Bridge. Hunting is legal on this 8.2 acre property, and there are plenty of places to hike on the property and into the connecting Shawnee National Forest. There are picnic areas in the woods and a spacious back deck to enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine while enjoying the sunset. This place is very secluded and there is almost no traffic as it sits on a one lane farm road. The entire home has been renovated and remodeled, with a wood burning stove inside. For 2024, it is in the heart of total darkness for the eclipse! Rent this secluded place and have it all to yourself for the week! Your pets are more than welcome! The bedrooms sleep 5 people. Extra guests are welcome to bring air mattresses. The kitchen has coffee and a coffee maker, as well as ice and water. There is bathtub and a shower for guests. There is also a sheltered picnic area outside in case of rain, as well as a covered back deck. WI-FI has just been added to the home! .

I absolutely loved this place! The house was clean and cozy. The property is absolutely gorgeous! I felt safe even though the house is pretty secluded. I just checked out this morning and I’m already thinking about my next trip here!

We had a great stay! Secluded cabin and a large property just the right size for a weekend away and within 20-30 minute driving distance of beautiful hiking trails/unique and delicious local restaurants! Would stay again.

Cute little place nestled into the woods. Quiet and off the beaten path. But close enough to the Southern Illinois Wine Trail. A place to kick back and enjoy peacefulness of the property.

Everything was very nice. A little tricky pulling in you have to watch for the yellow posts to turn right before the next driveway and it says no trespassing on private property. Ignore that and go ahead and trespass. It’s really very nice the house and the backyard were stunning, and I would definitely stay there again.

This property was great. Unfortunately we were only there for a night and didn't get to experience more of the wilderness but our dogs absolutely loved it. House was clean, smelled a bit funny but not awful. Bathroom was huge which was nice but there is a stepup in the doorway that everyone kept stubbing their toe on. All that aside, the seclusion was really nice and the furniture was comfortable. The bed was a little stiff but it was perfect for my wife.

This is a great location in the Shawnee National Forest, with easy access to the Little Grand Canyon, Pomona Natural Bridge, and the wineries around Alto Pass. The cabin was clean and comfortable on an uncommonly warm spring weekend. We especially enjoyed the large back porch and views out into the forest at sunset. The cabin is very dog friendly with ceramic tile floors. We also like to cook while traveling, and the kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. The location was very quiet, with no noise from the road or neighboring properties.

When we arrived, the house REEKED of cigarette smoke. We had to air the house out the entire first day and we could still smell it on the towels and faintly in the air. Clearly, the people before us did not follow the rules. We notified the host right away - he was very responsive. He had a cleaning lady come over; not much she could do, but she did bring a lighter so we could light some of the candles at least. Other than the smoke smell, the house was fine and as advertised. It’s nicely situated in the trees. We really enjoyed the setting and the drive to get back to the house.

Yes, Kevin was communicative and helpful. The space was convenient for our family and the beds and kitchen clean. We will most likely rent again.
