This was the third time we have stayed at Shore House and it just keeps getting better. Our host makes the home so inviting! It is completely organized to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We love it and have already booked another week in 2026!

It was wonderful to wake up by the ocean each morning, and we were lucky to have beautiful weather all week. Jan greeted us upon arrival, gave an informative tour, left some snacks/beverages for our enjoyment, and made suggestions for restaurants and places to see. We appreciated the kind welcome and found the place felt like home when we returned from our adventures each day. We will definitely be booking again!

The house is in a spectacular location and is every inch a well cared stay. I was greeted warmly with a tour of the home. Thoughtful amenities were left for our enjoyment. The week passed quickly with the view ever changing. Looking forward to returning next year as this was an ideal stay. Loved it!

Paradise

We love it so much here. The hosts are wonderful and always helpful. If peace, quiet, and beauty are what you're looking for in a vacation home, this is it. It's also strategically located within easy driving distance of Newport, Bristol, Warren and many other fun places, as well as nature reserves, beaches, etc. There are a couple of great grocery stores nearby as well. We are already planning our next stay.

Perfect Hosts & Home!

We cannot say enough about our stay in Portsmouth. The house had everything we needed and more— it was so clean and spotless with the best views imaginable. Jan was an amazing hostess. The personal touches were so appreciated with rich toiletries, beverages, and an abundance of supplies. So Close Yet So Far Away

We live near by and yet staying here felt like we were REALLY on vacation. The house is so well constructed that the waves and wind never got in. Being on the water is exciting like staying in a tree house and on a boat combined. Our hosts were lovely as well.

This was our third stay at Jan and John’s beautiful property. The views are spectacular even during a nor’easter as we had a front row seat to the storm. As always Jan has thought of every comfort and convenience from plenty of plush towels to extremely comfortable bedding, and even providing snacks and drinks for our arrival. We didn’t even feel the need to leave the house. This is our favorite rental in Portsmouth and we will definitely be returning for our fourth stay.

Best view

This place is perfect for a couple. The views of the bay are amazing, and worth it. The master bed room is open upstairs, so a big family would be tough. The master bath has a steam shower that was awesome. Would definitely recommend this place!

The accommodations exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The place was immaculate and was stocked with everything imaginable. The view was extraodinary! We plan to come back next year and stay even longer.

Jan & John were wonderful hosts. Communication was great; they were available for any questions or needs. The house was clean, lovely & had everything you’d need for your stay, including toiletries. The beds were on the softer side for us, but it’s a very individual thing. The master has a sleep number bed that helped. One thing to be aware of is that the windows, while they give a beautiful view, don’t have blinds on them. So you’ll be waking at the first sign of light, especially upstairs in the master suite! Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the outside given the weather but the views were beautiful. Would have loved to just sit outside with coffee and watch the water. Location was great—short drives to Bristol, Newport, etc. Neighborhood quiet. Thank you Jan & John for sharing your home!

Always a pleasure!

We had another fantastic stay at the Shore House! Jan is incredibly welcoming and always leaves the most delightful treats. The house is fully equipped and exceptionally comfortable. The little touches, like the heated floors and steam shower, really enhance the relaxation experience, especially with the stunning view. Thank you for another memorable visit!

Peaceful Narragansett Bay Retreat

We had a lovely stay with Jan and John. They are gracious hosts (great snacks!) and the property was perfect. Stunning bay views and so much attention to detail. Lux finishes abound. Hope to be back!
