Formerly the gardener's accommodation, Garden Cottage stands within the former kitchen garden of Yorke House. This Victorian cottage has been lovingly renovated and beautifully decorated, earning a prestigious Rose in 2022, as well as a 5-star gold rating by Visit England. This special hideaway is conveniently located between the edge of the old part of Richmond and the lovely Swaledale countryside.

The front door of the cottage opens into a stone flagged passage leading to the garden, well-equipped kitchen, sitting room with dining area, and downstairs cloakroom. In the delightful sitting room you will find a regularly tuned piano, a dining table seating six guests, and French doors leading out to the garden. A door from the kitchen leads upstairs to the en-suite master bedroom, second double bedroom, twin bedroom, and family bathroom featuring bath and separate shower.

The secure stone corridor that leads guests outside can accommodate bikes, boots, coats and pushchairs, and is a great place for damp dogs to dry off. Outside the pretty, enclosed, south-facing garden offers a patio table and chairs, lawn with superb monkey-puzzle tree, roses, apple trees, and flowery borders - perfect for evening drinks, dining al fresco, or just lazing with a good book! The garden benefits from spectacular views of Richmond Castle and Billy Banks Woods. Head through the picket gate to explore the owners' award winning one acre garden. Guests are welcome to enjoy Mr Yorke's Walled Garden on the understanding that they only do this via prior arrangement with them direct and agree that you have read the sign warning of dogs, trip hazards, ponds and uneven ground. Children in Mr Yorke's garden must be accompanied by adult at all times.
Garden Cottage offers the best of town and country, located just five minutes walk to Richmond Market Place, and five minutes to riverside and woodland walks.
