The Space:

A relaxed rural retreat set on 6 private acres on the city fringe, yet only ten minutes from central Rotorua. Sheep, chickens and two friendly kunekune pigs - Kevin Bacon and Ham Solo - share the paddocks, fruit trees line the grounds when in season, and the Mangakakahi Stream borders the property with a walking track winding through it - keep an eye out for trout. The accommodation splits across three separate spaces, so it suits everyone from a single family to two families or a group travelling together.



Here is how the property is laid out, as it's a little different to a standard house:

- The main house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

- A separate cabin sits a short walk from the house, down a path and some steps out the back, overlooking a paddock. It's a self-contained sleeping space for anyone wanting a bit of privacy. The cabin doesn't have its own bathroom - cabin guests use the bathroom and toilet in the rumpus room nearby.

- The rumpus room (a converted garage) has its own bathroom and toilet plus a daybed/sofa bed - a great spot in summer, with a heat pump for the cooler months.

Sleeps 10 across the main house and cabin, with a daybed/sofa bed in the rumpus room for extra flexibility. All bedding and linen supplied.



- BATHROOMS -

Two bathrooms in the main house, plus a separate bathroom and toilet in the rumpus room - three in total. The cabin has no bathroom of its own, so cabin guests use the rumpus room bathroom. Towels supplied.



- LIVING AREA -

The main house has an open, comfortable lounge and dining space with a fully equipped kitchen, ready for family meals after a day out exploring. Big windows look out over the farm and Mt Ngongotaha beyond.



- OUTDOOR AREA -

This is where Diamond Homestead shines. Six acres of paddocks with grazing sheep, chickens and two friendly kunekune pigs (Kevin Bacon and Ham Solo), fruit trees to pick from in season, and the Mangakakahi Stream running along the boundary with a walking track through the natural landscape. There's plenty of room for kids to roam and space to simply slow down.



- RUMPUS ROOM -

The garage has been converted into a fun rumpus room with a daybed/sofa bed, TV and its own separate bathroom and toilet. It's at its best in summer as an extra hangout or kids' zone, and has a heat pump for the cooler months.



- PARKING -

Complimentary parking on the property and on the street. A car is recommended for getting around.



Guest Access:

The homestead, cabin and rumpus room are all yours, along with the surrounding farmland, stream and walking track. There is a separate cottage near the front of the property that you'll drive past on your way in, but the two homes are well apart and completely private from each other. Make yourself at home. 🏡



The Neighborhood:

Diamond Homestead sits in Pukehangi, a quiet fringe suburb just 10 minutes' drive from central Rotorua and the lakefront. Overlooking the property is the bush-covered Mt Ngongotaha, best appreciated on the Mt Ngongotaha Forest Loop or Jubilee Track - both start from a carpark about 5 minutes' drive away, and you can also reach them on foot via the tracks that circuit the farm. Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park, home to lions and native wildlife, is only a few minutes up the road. For thrill-seekers and mountain bikers, Skyline Rotorua - with its gondola, luge, skyswing and MTB park - is around 10 minutes away, along with Zorb, Rotorua Canopy Tours and Te Puia's geysers. The Polynesian Spa, Wai Ariki Spa and the world-famous Redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest are all a short drive across town.



Getting Around:

A car is recommended - public transport is limited out here, and the location makes exploring wider Rotorua easy. There's complimentary parking on the property and on the street. Central Rotorua is around 10 minutes, Skyline, Zorb, Te Puia and Paradise Valley Springs about 10, the Polynesian and Wai Ariki spas around 12, the Redwoods about 15, and Rotorua Airport roughly 20 minutes away.



Other Things to Note:

HOT WATER: The main house runs on a hot water cylinder, so please be mindful of others in your group when showering - if everyone needs hot water, spread the showers out so no one misses out. If the main house does run low, the bathroom in the rumpus room is on an unlimited gas hot water supply.



CABIN: The cabin is a self-contained sleeping space and does not have its own bathroom. Cabin guests are welcome to use the bathroom and toilet in the rumpus room nearby (which is on unlimited gas hot water).



RUMPUS ROOM: The converted garage is best enjoyed in summer. It has a heat pump for cooler days.



FARM: Sheep, chickens, two kunekune pigs (Kevin Bacon and Ham Solo) and fruit trees are part of the property. Please respect the animals and the grounds during your stay.
