“We had such an awesome stay at the Shawnee Apple Shack. It was so cute, clean, and had everything that we needed! There was plenty to do in the Southern Illinois area for the weekend. We definitely recommend staying there and would love to come back sometime!”

“Pros: quiet little cabin, tucked just inside from a street. Clean & cozy. Cons 1. Mattress: It was too soft & saggy in the middle. Another reviewer mentioned this too. I wasn't able to get a restful night's sleep. Either my knees or neck would be sore in the mornings 2. Not enough brightness / lights: The interior feels dark - with an okay ceiling light, where 1-2 if the bulbs would slowly go dim as tine went on. Kitchen light was brigther.”

“Wonderful little cabin to get away from everything and just relax. Loved the screened in back porch. We were able to sit outside while it was raining and enjoy our breakfast. Dead end road so very minimal traffic.”

“This property is great!! The house is clean and the host has thought of everything you might need. Very few rentals on the lake will provide coffee and creamer and pretty much any seasoning you can think of. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and even a crockpot. Allison responded right away when I messaged her. They have a great dog, Kevin, who visits the guests and takes a dip in the pond. Unfortunately we have very hyper dogs and one is not always receptive to other dogs so...

“High quality room, with farm privacy and atmosphere. We would recommend it and stay there again. Only one thing: The ladder to the loft bedroom is quite steep. My wife struggled a bit with it. But then, she is in her late 60's. Nevertheless, a good place that we will recommend. A/C worked well, and was needed. Room very clean. We hardly saw staff, which was fine, as we enjoyed our privacy.”

“Beautiful place. Beds were very comfortable. View of the lake was perfect! Only problem was that the pictures were a bit deceiving. The rooms looked larger in the pictures. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back next year!”
