The house and property were very nice, but our overall experience was uncomfortable. The listing did not clearly disclose that the host lives or stays on site, which significantly affected our stay. I rented the home for my 50th birthday for a small, all-female group. We were quiet and respectful, but we felt closely monitored throughout the visit.The host requested an in-person check-in, which felt unnecessary. At that time, I clearly explained the number of overnight guests (which was within the maximum and different from my original reservation) and that a few additional friends would stop by briefly on one day before we all left for a birthday celebration in town. The host did not raise any concerns then. Instead, the following day—while we were away celebrating—I received multiple long messages requesting additional payment via Venmo for those visitors, despite having already paid over 8,000 for a three-night stay. This was upsetting and put a damper on the celebration.Additionally, earlier that day, the host recorded video of our group as we were walking off the property. Later, she made comments about decorations my friends had put up, which gave us the impression that she may have been looking into the house or entering it while we were away. This added to the feeling of being watched and judged during our stay.While the property itself was nice, I would not recommend this rental due to the lack of privacy and the discomfort caused by the host’s actions.
