Great location and well kept property!
We were very pleased with booking process and the property manager communication gave us confident we made a good choice. We greatly enjoyed our stay on St Augustine Beach and the oceanfront location of this property!

The BEST location for our girls trip
This adorable beach house is in the perfect location. Enjoy the most amazing sunrises on the beach which is literally steps away. Listen to the waves crash against the shore while relaxing in the pool or hot tub. Tons of space for sleeping and hanging out. Stocked very well especially for going to the beach with bikes, chairs, a wagon and umbrellas. We had the best time and communication with the property manager was super easy and seamless, he gave us tons of recommendations for places to go and things to see. Seriously you will not find a better location to enjoy the St Augustine beach!

Perfect Beach Location
We had 6 adults and 5 children (ages 5-9). The pool was in constant use, multiple hours on the beach (awesome sunrise walks!). It was a short walk to restaurants, shops, and mini golf. Grocery stores were minutes away. And downtown St Augustine was a short drive. A perfect spot for a family vacation.

Birthday getaway
We stayed here for spring break/a birthday getaway with four different families ages ranging from under one years old to 37 and it was perfect! We had everything we needed, and the location is absolute perfection!!! Bill is an amazing host!

"Fam Jam 2024" St Augustine Beach House
What a wonderful week of sharing and creating new memories! Plenty of space for four of our families to spread out, extra large table for dining, plenty of towels and paper products provided. The views were amazing and having not just one but two washers and dryers helped keep up with the little ones laundry. Comfortable "beachy" decor, bikes, beach cart, WE LOVE IT!

Relaxing vacation
The house was an older charming home with lots of character in a historic town which fit in with our expectations. There was a beautiful view and plenty of space for our big and growing family right off the beach. We picked it for the pool and hot tub since we were used to condos that offered those amenities and knew how much we used them! We had some minor issues with the hot tub that the owner was quick to fix which I really appreciated. The house had plenty of beach towels, chairs, toys and even bikes. We would definitely go there again it was a very carefree vacation!

Great house for small kids and family gathering
This is certainly an old house but beautifully charming. Pool was great for kids to swim and it is located in a great spot next to many restaurants and things to do. Highly suggest this home to anyone looking for the beach experience. Host was easy to communicate with and gave great recommendations.

Great Location
House was in a great location. It had everything we needed. One issue was the main TV was not working at all. Also, it would have been nice to have the pool heated without having to pay $75/day. He does state this in the description but for the price, seems like it would have been included. Overall, though a nice house and owner was communicative.

Super sports weekend at the beach!

One of the best trips we've had in 44 years
What a wonderful trip we had staying at "Surf's Up." Traveling with five of my girlfriends, this place provided everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable, kitchen, fully stocked, and as an added bonus, a beautiful view. You can't beat the location. We were close to everything, yet enjoyed privacy in our VRBO. Beach access was a breeze, and the in ground pool and hot tub delightful! I'm sure will be back again.

Surfs Up
We had our family reunion here. This is a beautiful property. Plenty of room. Great location. The property owner was very helpful with suggestions of places to see, restaurants to try and touring hints. Close to old St.Augustine town and stores but far enough for privacy. A few glitches that were resolved. I would rent here again.

Family Vacation
We really liked the location of this house. Walkable to coffee, restaurants and putt putt golf, we had 7 adults and 7 children in our group and there was plenty of space for everyone. We loved the pool and used it daily. The house is right on the beach which is so convenient when you have little ones. We started everyday by walking down to the beach and watching the sunrise. We would definitely rent this house again.

This house has the perfect location. The house has a lot of room. The pool is immediately off the back door and the walkway to the beach several steps away. This could be a great place except it has several areas that need to be addressed. The landscaping needs a lot of work. The house has plumbing issues and the first floor bath was out of order. It needs a good deep cleaning. Cobwebs in the hanging lamp over table and thick dust in vents. The first night we had cockroaches in at least three bedroom upstairs. My granddaughter would not sleep alone the rest of the stay since they were crawling on her legs in the night. The bug man came the next day after a call to the owner but he told us we would probably see more activity and we did in the kitchen. The upstairs bathroom sink had only a trickle of water pressure and the deep tub in the master bath only had tepid water. It never got hot. We should have suspicioned something when there was caution tape around the downstairs bathroom. the door knob fell off the bedroom door upstairs and a man came to fix it. He took the door knob off and never came back. The young couple staying in that room were not pleased that their door would not shut and stay shut. The window in the upstairs bath could not be shut and may have been a source of entry for the bugs. The repairman came and nailed it shut but the wood was rotted. The air conditioning went out and required a repairman. This house needs some TLC.

Dear Margaret, Thanks for your review. The downstairs bathroom had issues with roots growing in the pipe. That has been fixed. The issue with the bugs is an ongoing battle in Florida, but I have a contract with Terminix for a monthly visit and spraying. The AC was able to be fixed the next day. A new door knob was replaced as well. As far as the windows go, I ask that no windows be opened to save the AC from being overworked, but that seems to be a challenge for guests. All the vents in the house have been cleaned and sanitized as well. As the house is almost 100 years old, it will have issues, but it does have a wonderful charm to it.

Quaint old home
Overall great experience. Older home so a few issues. Musty smell, maybe due to beach location, some big bugs, again Florida. Could use some updates. Living room not very usable for a large group. Pretty expensive but great location. We did enjoy our stay.

Amazing House and Location!
So many things in walking distance! The Pier, multiple coffee shops, ice cream shops, bars, restaurants, and Miniature Golf! Loved the house and pool and nature! We will definitely be back!

Family Vacation
This house was almost perfect. The house is right next to the public beach access and the pool in the back yard was great. We walked into a very clean house with lots of places to sleep. The only negative was that the furniture needs some updating. The couches and a few of the beds are pretty beat up and are not comfortable.

Thanks for your insight. I plan on replacing the 2 couches this September. Hard to find best for use at a beach house that will last. Most of the mattresses are 2 years young. Hope you can come again soon. Bill Black

Roomy on the beach
We had the best time at this property. We had plenty of space for two families of four and loved the proximity to the beach and restaurants. The owner left us with brand new bikes that we rode to dinner. Looking forward to returning!

Pictures were out dated, outside property isnt being taken care off, if you have someone with lawncare you are being ripped off. Not enough towels, toilet paper isnt Is adequate for 16 people for a week. Doing towels laundry daily instead of vacationing. Had 5 issues 1.downstairs toilet over flowed and is still not work. 2. One washing machine isnt Agitating and unuseable. 3. pool stopped cyclingbut was fixed after call. Location is perfect just needs alot of TLC. 4. DOOR to deck is so old that is lost its seal...hard to really enjoy view thur it need to look past it. 5. Garage with bikes and Floats were very outdated and rusty, no organization in the garage you had to paw through the items to find something to use. Needs a full gut out and replace outdoor items for recreation. Was alittle disppointed from online pics to what we received.

Dear Karen, Thanks for your review. The glass in the door to the pool had to be replaced. I have added 6 new road bikes to the other beach cruisers at the house. Many guests leave pool items and toys at the house. There are new beach towels[24] at the house. We try to leave enough toiletry items for the week, but it never seems to be enough and many rentals only leave a roll for each bathroom and no soaps or shampoo. We try to have on hand everything a family will need for there stay. Sincerely, Bill Black

Perfect for Family Vacation
We had 10 people on our vacation. The location was great, next to the beach access, the dune area is quite wide, so it's still a decent walk. It was nice having our own pool and hot tub, and fire pit to enjoy. The house is walkable to shops, bars, restaurants, etc. The fishing pier is within walking distance as well. We had plenty of room, beach towels, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc.

Saint Augustine Beach is a gorgeous stretch of Florida with a fantastic beach, amazing food and great things to do nearby. We booked this house to have the best of the best: A pool and hot tub, on the beach, with enough room for 3 families and my mother. The price was high, but we wanted to splurge to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone. The listing made this place seem like a perfect coastal retreat, and it could be. Unfortunately, it needs a lot of touch up, deep cleaning and maintenance. All of the issues could be fixed in a weekend.

Location!
Consensus amongst our group of 12 was that the location was excellent…steps to the beach, local restaurants and shops, and about a 15 minute drive to downtown St. Augustine. Bill was quick to respond to our questions and concerns. Many toys….bikes, beach gear, etc. However, the house itself is in need of some updating.

Awesome In St. Augustine!!!
We had a wonderful stay at Surf's Up in St. Augustine. This is a wonderfully located, well-maintained beachfront home. There were 12 of us and we had plenty of room. We did not use the pool, but the hot tub was phenomenal! Bill, the property owner was responsive and very easy to work with throughout the whole process. He provides recommendations for local restaurants, pastry shops, etc. and the ones we tired were excellent. The beach was perfect and just a short walk from the house. We would definitely stay here again. We had an awesome time in St. Augustine!

Nice House with an excellent location
With lots of great restaurants and a 2 minute walk to the beach, the location couldn't be better. Several bedrooms made it great for everyone to have their own space with plenty of common rooms as well.

Amazing stay!
My family of 15 had an amazing time at this place. Communication with the home owner was amazing leading up to the stay (which there was much of due to Hurricane Ian) and throughout. Our family had enough space to gather and eat. The local restaurants are within walking distance and delicious food of every variety could be found. Many happy memories were made here:)

Girl Getaway
Excellent host and great house. Bill Black is exceptional and he made our stay as easy as it could be. The house is so well equipped with everything we needed from the kitchen to the beach toys in the garage to the amenities in the bathrooms. The location is wonderful and convenient to great restaurants and shopping. Bill gave us a list of his favorite restaurants which was quite helpful in finding some really fabulous dining spots. Just what we needed

Best beach house
Our family of 10 had the best time. House had plenty of room for everyone. Kitchen well equipped. The pool was so nice since there were rip tide warnings. Steps to the beach and close walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. Gorgeous sunrise every morning. Our host Bill, was super helpful and responsive to our questions. We look forward to returning in 2023.

Great Family Getaway
This house was perfect for our family getaway. House offered all our needs from plenty of room for everyone, all the beach toys and beach items we needed, clean inviting pool, to a waffle maker the kids loved! It also has a fantastic laundry room. The area was perfect. We could walk to sit down outside restaurants, a fantastic coffee shop, shopping, donuts, ice cream and the farmers market at the pier. The owner is very nice and is easy to reach if needed. We absolutely LOVED this place!

Overall description is shabby chic. The house needs some tlc. For example, the couch has stuffing coming out from a back cushion, it was covered by a coverlet. The dishwasher had a foul smell. Positives Location- right on the beach, St Augustine Beach is a lovely beach community Size of house - plenty of space for a large family Supplies - plenty of towels including beach towels; kitchen supplies such as dishwasher detergent, some condiments, hand and dish soap Pool and hot tub, pool not heated (cost extra) but the kids didn’t mind the cold water Owner sent us a list with restaurant suggestions Two washers and driers Negatives Stairs - not handicapped friendly Cleaning - there was broken glass outside near the pool, we vacuumed when first got there b/c the kitchen floor still had quite a lot of crumbs and dirt.... it could have had a better clean before we came. Bikes and lawn chairs - flat tires and broken chains on some of the bikes and some of the lawn chairs were broken

Sweetest vacation ever!
Waking to beautiful sunrises, viewed either from bed or from the beach with early morning walks along beach was a major joy! Since we were just steps from the boardwalk over the dunes! The house was beautiful, with an extremely well equipped kitchen with every cooking tool imaginable (esp liked the insta-pot!), more beach towels than 11 people could use and a view of the dunes from all 5 of the bedrooms. The outdoor shower was great for sandy feet and suits so the house and pool/ hot tub stayed sand free. Even with 11 people there were places for quiet conversation, reading or games for a large group in the evenings. Although there were 4 or 5 televisions we never turned any on. Our contact, Bill, was quick to respond to any questions we had and was extremely accommodating. For those with handicap concerns there were railings on all the stairs but the one going to the pool from the parking lot. Gathering together from 3 parts of the country on a quiet street, we felt as though we were in our own world.

Wedding weekend with family
Wonderful property for our wedding weekend with family - plenty of room for our family to enjoy themselves- plus the home sits right on the beach for beautiful sunrises & sitting around the fire pit or in the hot tub during the evening hours. The house was very large and clean. There are so many beds!! We loved staying right on the beach and also having a pool to use. There’s plenty of outdoor seating as well. Girls Weekend Away
This property was fabulous and the owner was better than responsive. Even though the bulk of the time we were here our weather was terrible we had the best girls trip yet. The house was spacious for the 11 of us and we enjoyed every minute of our time together in this beautiful property. Highly recommended!

Perfect beach getaway with friends
Surf's Up is a great house for a getaway with family or friends. The location is quiet and further away from downtown attractions (we had difficulty getting Uber rides to/from). Bill is an awesome host and the home is stocked with everything you could need!

Pretty house, some issues
The house was plenty big for our group. You didn't feel you were on top of each other. We had some issues but when reported Bill responded and corrected what he could. The house did have a musty smell so we used candles. Bill said he had new bikes. Someone must have switched old bikes for his new ones. The beach chairs were full of flood waters so we didn't use them either.
