Whitwell is a designated dark sky area with some very pretty houses lots of thatched roofs,the local pub is only a few minutes walk and well worth a visit,the food is excellent.

W enjoyed a sea view room with a balcony. We were able to check in early and shown to the room. Local maps, guides and bus time tables were available. The bathroom was tiled top to toe and the shower excellent.
This is a good pub with accommodation above and good pub food. It is not The Ritz, nor does it pretend to be and offers a great location and reasonable prices.

“The hotel has nice staff in the restaurant but otherwise it seemed that they really couldn't care less about taking care of customers. The room was dusty with old nails on the floor and the bathroom hadn't gotten a good cleaning in a long time. When this was pointed out to the staff they brushed of some parts and sprayed airfreshner all over the place. As for the public spaces in the hotel they could really need a brush up, especially the carpets (they smelled).
