The Birdhouse is a charming self-catering retreat nestled in Applecross, near the renowned North Coast 500 route in the Scottish Highlands. This tranquil and intimate cottage is ideal for up to two guests, offering a perfect escape for those seeking a magical getaway. Here, you can leave the stresses of everyday life behind, allowing your body to relax and your mind to unwind in a serene and picturesque setting.


Enjoying west-facing views over the Cuillin Mountains of Skye and the Inner Sound coastline, The Birdhouse is light and airy with a unique charm. The natural wood and stone elements, along with the warming log burner and the overarching canopy of rowan branches over the head of the bed, create a cozy, fairy-tale nest perfect for any time of year. The Birdhouse was lovingly restored and refurbished to an exceptional standard. It features a king-size bed, a beautiful shower room, a wood-burning stove, and an abundance of unique creative charm. The Birdhouse interiors seamlessly merge contemporary Scottish design with a touch of creative magic. Painted in calming Farrow and Ball colors, the space is adorned with beautiful tweeds, lovely linens, and sumptuous cushions, exuding an air of understated luxury.

Dog-friendly, guests are permitted to bring one dog by prior arrangement.
Pack up a picnic and walk to a choice of nearby beaches, or explore hills and dales by rivers and lochs. Enjoy activities like sea kayaking, fishing, or swimming. Wildlife is abundant, starting right outside the cottage with wandering sheep, ducks, hens, geese, and red deer. The Applecross Inn is just two and a half miles away, and The Walled Garden restaurant is another half mile—be sure to book ahead. Prima huis. Was wel aan de prijzige kant, maar in dit deel van Schotland is alles wel wat duurder.Je kunt er prachtig wandelen en er is weinig toerisme. Beetje onontdekt gebied. Aanrader.

The stunning Birdhouse

From our arrival through to our departure, The Birdhouse surpassed our expectations. It's beautifully designed and it's in an amazing location. Kristen and Gregor are perfect hosts, super friendly and helpful. There are lots of stunning walks and scenery to explore in Applecross Bay. I highly recommend a stay and hope to return to The Birdhouse one day.
