This is totally fine as the bbq was great for cooking everything just be cautious of this when you are planning what food to bring! Thank you for a lovely stay”

“The host was very friendly and helpful, the kitchen was well equipped and the location was great. On the less positive side, it is not a great place to stay when it is windy (there were gale force winds while we there); the walls rattled noisily and the wind came up through the decking flooring in the front room, as well as blowing straight into the long drop which has no door. Some of the furniture is extremely worn and lacking in charm. The bathroom window has no covering so lacks privacy....

“We stayed at the Rimu cottage for two nights. It was ideally located to walk to the Pancake rocks and blow hole at Punakaiki, and also just down the road from amazing scenic views and culture at Hokitika. The cottage was well described in the listing, comfortable and clean. It made a great home base for our time on the West Coast.”

“The Cottage was better than described, luxurious and provided everything you could ask for in a holiday rental. Great view, welcoming hosts. There was fresh milk and eggs in the fridge and a bunch of other useful stuff. We used the cling film and a plastic bag from the drawer to pack lunch for a trip on the aqua ferry which we also thoroughly recommend. ”

“Online listing does not explain clearly the ‘off grid’ nature of the property (limited power & hot water) and does not include details about the 300m walk (incl a skinny sway bridge crossing) to get from where you park your car to the property, nor was this communicated to us as part of the special instructions you normally receive days before your arrival. No contact was made until a few hours prior and no information was provided at that time, only on arrival were we told that we needed a 4WD...
