Customer service was good... they needed to nickel and dime us for another 30 bucks because of a last minute addition.. so fyi, they do care about how many people are in your room. Would have been nice to have a smoking area somewhere on property... also would have been nice to be told what to do at checkout. I was never instructed what to do with the key, nor given the wifi password. But.. the reason this property gets a 10/10.. was simply do to the showers water pressure. It felt like a fire hose and was great to shower off after being in the ocean.

I was not at all pleased with the fact that they advertise a microwave and the room and when I got there was told that I was not allowed to have a microwave. Also I was robbed out of my security deposit which was not mentioned in the price and they refuse to return it and also did not allow me the opportunity to have my room checked before I left. I was accused of smoking in the room which is not true I was told to leave my keys and they would check the room later that it would be okay and they kept my security deposit and refused to return it. I have had to file a report with about a business bureau and I'm also letting you all know that is not a place to have on your listing and not recommended by me. I will be posting on Facebook and any other social media to let people know Ocean cove is not the place to say. They are thieves and liars.

I called 4 times prior to my trip to check in something and never got an answer or a return call to my messages. When I arrived, during office hours, no one was there, again I called to get no answer. Luckily,they came into the office as I was about to walk around the property to look for someone. They were showing someone their room. On our second day our beds were made and fresh towels left but the garbage wasn’t taken out and it was full. Again when I went to check out no one was there! Again I called and actually got can answer. I told them I needed to check out and was told just to drop my parking pass and key in the drop box. This would have been nice to know at check in. The location is great with everything near by, restaurants, store, shops and the beach with a block. There is a lot of noise as we were road facing-Pacific Ave which is busy-not the motel’s fault, just giving information for light sleepers. Read carefully the amenities, not much offered except a place to sleep close to the beach. It was clean.

This was our 4th year staying here and will stay again. Went with a room with a kitchen & table this time and it was well worth it. Not fancy, but a more important for us is very clean with tile floors. Family owned and all their staff are friendly.

Lied to and about us and withheld our deposit.

I'm absolutely livid. The stay was nice and all, and normally I'd love to gush about how great it was to be here, but it's not worth going into because they withheld our $150 cleaning deposit for "having a pet in the room." This is a huge lie as we left our dog with a friend to stay 3.5 hours away. We have video and photo evidence, but that's not good enough. Their "evidence" is that our "pet" left enough fur on the floor to necessitate 3 rounds of cleaning. That floor was almost spotless when we left. Too bad I didn't take any pictures of it to prove these scammers wrong. And if our dog was there, they would have heard him barking as he barks at every little noise. For a budget place we were willing to put up with the negatives, like the persistent dampness everywhere and lack of shampoo and conditioner, but since they insist on lying to us for $150 we'll expose the truth. Don't buy the $58/night as a good deal because they charge hidden fees that are "refundable" then don't refund as they promised. I'm sorry I ever stayed here and won't return to such morality-starved pieces of human refuse. My prediction is they'll try to reply with their so-called "evidence" about our nonexistent/absent pet, but don't believe a word of it. They probably found a little pet hair on the floor from our clothes and figured they could get away with lying about us and keeping our deposit. Don't stay here unless you don't care about not getting your deposit back for bull crap reasons.

well worth it

Well worth it, all around. I was looking for a budget stay with great location, and I found it here. The location was perfect, could not be beat, just one block off the water and a bit north of the real crowded parts. Plenty of things to do and eat and drink within walking distance. Free parking, although crowded of course, but I got a spot every time. The service could not have been friendlier and more helpful; helped when I needed it, and left me alone otherwise. Perfect. Cons: it is not the most up-to-date place if you need refinement in your life. Little crowded, little older, nothing fancy. Pros: All the mechanical / building details are in place and working fine. A/C was nice and cold. Full size fridge and oven. Shower had none of the damage that I've seen in far too many other places, with cracks or loose fittings; everything here was put together and ship-shape. My room had a small view of the ocean. Quieter at night than I expected, but the A/C fan probably helped that. Wi-Fi strong as could be. Bed comfy and perfectly adequate. Very clean room inside and out, they swept the corridor daily. Zero noise from other rooms. I was able to work from the room and walk to entertainment, equally comfortably.

They could do better

I understood the room was not going to be updated to today, but I also was excited to see a room that was preserved from the 80s. That was OK with me since it was this cute little family owned motel but there was a whole kitchenette with no paper towels no napkins no silverware no plates, the outlets did not work in the main room that made it inconvenient to find an outlet that did work. Very odd furniture and placement. Dirty windows. The oven hood is so rusted out, it really gives you the heebie-jeebies. The only lamp did not work. No shampoo no conditioner. Soap was the cheapest on the market. No dish soap but interestingly a dish towel and dish rag provided. Sorry a few little fixes shouldn’t be the issue but it is.

Best place to stay

Very quaint, family-owned inn in the heart of Virginia Beach. Not only was the place clean, but the beds very comfortable as well. The place was in a great location with many great restaurants and the beach within walking distance. The owners were so friendly, welcoming and hospitable, giving great suggestions of places to go and restaurants to visit. You can tell that Steve and everyone there puts a lot of effort into the business and really cares about the community of Virginia Beach. We will definitely be back to the Virginia Beach area and will be staying at this location. I would 100% recommend this inn over any big hotel chain.

This is our 3rd year in a row staying here, and again we were pleased. The location is great (only a block from the beach/boardwalk). Always clean & fresh, and for us the tile floors are much better than places with carpeted ones. Only negatives are that their the tub/shower is narrow, a bit tight (due to being in an older building). And in this room, our nightstand and bath vanity did not have any drawers. We will stay there again in the future!
