The hosts were great. They went out of their way to keep the drive leading to the guesthouse plowed which was rather steep and important on snowy days, even with a 4WD. This place lacks some of the modern-day comforts like a washer/dryer (recommend using the Village Laundromat in Gowanda), dishwasher and television (read the fine print if those are critical to your stay), but it has everything you need for a shorter stay. Only recommendation would be for owners to provide keys or combo locks on the doors for guests. It felt a bit awkward to leave the house completely unlocked while we were away not knowing our surroundings and felt a bit unsafe sleeping in a separate unconnected house while leaving doors unlocked to the rest of the kids and wife in the main guesthouse (could lock them from the inside but then could not access the restroom in the main guesthouse if sleeping in the separate unconnected house). Im sure it was safe given its location out in the country but it would feel more comfortable and secure having actual keys or combo locks on the doors not knowing our surroundings, especially this day and age. With that said, it is a good value compared to the Lodges near Holiday Valley and the B&Bs in Ellicottville and worked for our short ski trip to Holiday Valley for our family of five. Would stay here again if ever in the area.
