Gorgeous Ocean Front Views
This was our first time not staying on the west side of Maui. What we loved about this location was how close to the airport and Costco we were. The grounds of this condo building are absolutely beautiful. They are so well taken care of. There are ample sun loungers on the grounds as well as in the pool area. The condo itself was perfect for our family of three. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need and we loved that the freezer had an automatic icemaker. We made most of our own dinners and the BBQ area was perfect for that. The large lanai made for excellent whale watching. It was also a huge bonus that the condo supplied beach chairs, boogie boards , and a cooler bag. While the condo itself could use some updating, we know from other reviews that Gwen is planning that at some point. By no means did that take away from our vacation. Gwen was also very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely recommend this condo.

This is a bit of an older unit so If you’re looking for an updated condo- this may not be the place for you. With that being said let me tell you ALL the pros! You are right on the water and if it’s whale season like it was for us there’s no need to book a whale watch.. they are right there in the bay. Gwen even provides binoculars! For anyone concerned about the mattress reviews, please note that there was a brand new firm mattress in place when we arrived! Another thing to note is you have a reserved parking spot.. this is such a luxury. We did come home once to a worker parking in it but they moved without an issue. The biggest pro for us was the location. Being central made it easy to get around and do everything we wanted. I also want to mention communication- Gwen always responds quickly which gives you the feeling of security knowing if you have any problems she will be on it right away.

Quiet location

Thanks for letting me know. A new TV is coming. The bathroom is clean, and yes dated. That is why the nightly rate has been kept low. Hard right now to get work done on Maui due to the fires but will get there!

Great View
Lovely condo right in the water. Sit on the balcony and watch the waves, sunset, sunrise, stars. Turtles in the morning in the rocks right off the property. Well equipped kitchen with ice maker. Beach towels, chairs, cooler. Nice pool and short walk to a beach. There is a good breeze if you open the bedroom window and balcony sliding door. AC works well. Items to note: the condo is directly under the flight path, so you’ll hear a lot of airplanes. This is the windiest part of the island, but did not bother us. Bathroom could use an update. Not near much, so expect to drive for restaurants, groceries etc. TV is quite small. As others mentioned, the bed could use an update. A bed in a box would be a big improvement.

Thanks Andrea, it is a beautiful spot. A new bed has been ordered with a top quality mattress. Will eventually upgrade the bathroom, but that would increase the nightly rate quite a bit. Just want as many as possible to affordably stay in such an incredible location with an unbelievable view!

Good for a budget vacation
PROS: The view - oceanfront so the constant sound of the waves is soothing. One of the most gorgeous views to wake up to that we have ever experienced! Quiet - never once were we disturbed by other guests, traffic, or crowds. Location - about a five-minute walk to the harbor, Maui Ocean Center, the nearest beach and a small local grocer that serves a very decent breakfast and lunch. Grounds - beautiful landscaping, nice pool, laundry facilities and grill area. We even saw numerous turtles at the sea wall! CONS: TV - It takes three remotes and a page full of instructions to operate the tv. And we boomers never could figure it out so my husband did without football for the week. A/C - it is loud! The unit on the lanai sounds like an airplane taking off and after a while, it is annoying. Bed - needs a new mattress and when I stripped the linens upon check-out, we saw many stains on the mattress. Cleanliness - the entire unit needs a top to bottom cleaning and a fresh paint job. We had a few issues and the owner was very quick to send someone to take care of it. OVERALL: I would definitely stay here again. It is very budget friendly. You'll understand what I mean when you venture down to Wailea/Makena area. So if you don't want to spend a fortune on accommodations, this is a great place to stay!

Thank you for your positive comments and also the constructive feedback. As an owner living in Canada I count on guests letting me know what needs attention. I am ordering a new mattress, and will have the unit painted soon. If AC is on, lanai doors should be closed and the AC is not loud inside the condo. All ACs make noise outside. Best to shut it off if you wish to sit on the lanai. Maalea usually gets a nice breeze, so when I am there I don't really need the AC that much.

Lovely stay
We loved staying at Gwen’s condo in Maalaea and for us the location was perfect. The view is beyond magical and it was really relaxing sitting on the lanai watching the sun set and rise and hear the waves. The condo had everything we needed. Would love to come back here in the future . The communication with the owner was great and she answered right away when we had a question about something.

Awesome VRBO
We really enjoyed staying at this VRBO. The views were awesome and seeing the turtles daily was amazing. We're SCUBA divers and it is super close to one of the ports used. This was great for those 6:30AM dive boat meeting times. ;) Lots of kitchen appliances available, AC worked great, parking is easy peasy, and its central location is a great home base to go both North or South on the west side of the island. We hit some weather at the very end of our stay and the host was VERY accomodating allowing us a late check-out due to a changed flight time and even offered an extra day for us if the flight got cancelled. (Thanks, Gwen!) We'd definitely recommend this VRBO to a friend and look forward to another stay.

Our stay….
We made the most out of our vacation and enjoyed what was made up to us. The beach front was gorgeous. We spot a few turtles on our last day and it was nice to wake up and enjoyed a cup of coffee on the balcony. The host was attentive and always responsive to our needs and questions. Upon arriving from a long flight, we were tired and everyone just wanted to sleep. While making our bed, I noticed a few things not up to standard such as sofa bed cover stained (looks like pee, it was yellow) from who knows when, pillows with sweats stains from maybe last several stay and old sheets that had a smell on like it’s been sitting for a while. (Think of sheets you wash and stored away for a long time and when taken out to use, its collects a weird smell). When communicated to the host, Gwen was apologetic and said she’s disappointed and it’s never happened before. A small refund ($110) given back to us for the inconvenience. The house keeper went to Target and dropped off new sheets. I was communicated new pillows were going to be dropped off but never did. Our family came for a vacation and everything should have been perfect but it wasn’t. We tried to make the best out of it. The highlight of our stay was the view, otherwise the unit is a bit outdated and could use fresh paint and new furniture. There were beach towels, camping chairs available to the guest, if needed. Also boggie boards and binocular. Not intended to be a bad review but just an honest review.

This has never happened before. The condo is consistently booked so nothing sits that long.It must have been a negligent cleaner and I was assured I would be given the best cleaners going forward. I suppose this review shows that if something should go wrong we do everything we can to make it right. Our guests continually tell us how much they love the condo. And yes, as the reviewer said, the view is spectacular!

Great home base for first trip to Maui!
Very nice condo in Maalea! Clean, great little kitchen, porch overlooking Maalea bay! Saw herd of turtles (actually, correct word is "bale" of turtles) right off the front lawn area. Very easy walk to restaurant, shops in Maalea village. Good "home base" for travels around Maui.

Perfect Honeymoon Stay

Gwen's place in Ma'alaea was perfect for visiting Maui. It's centrally located, making trips to Wailea-Makena, Kihei, and Lahaina a breeze. The sunrise is beautiful from the lanai, and the view is breathtaking, including whales and turtles in the bay. We highly recommend a stay here!

Maui Getaway
The property was well maintained. The condo was beautifully decorated and we had a wonderful view of the bay. There is miles of beach to walk on and hardly any people using it. This was our 3rd time to Maalaea area. We are very familiar with area. Saying that our host sent very detailed information about the condo as well as maps, activties, other helpful information. It was a very relaxing holiday

Amazing views
This condo has amazing views, and is in a quiet, private location. Enjoyed the local restaurants, whale and turtle watching from the lanai and walking distance to a pretty good beach. Hard to beat. We had hoped for a more comfortable bed, more updated amenities and to be able to listen to the amazing CD collection, but the player did not work. The fan in the bathroom was very loud and we had difficulty with the DW but eventually got it started. Overall, cannot beat the views, location and value for this place.

This is an ocean front property with full, direct views of the ocean (Maalaea Bay) from the living room and balcony. We saw whales daily. The complex is older, but both the property and this condo unit are well maintained and meticulously cared for.

Just as described
Wonderful unit with an exceptional view. Great for sunrises, sunsets, whale and turtle watching . Watching the whales from the lanai was outstanding! Binoculars were provided but not always needed. Unit was well equipped with amenities. Gwen (owner) was very helpful and easy to contact. The bed was very comfortable as were all the furnishings. We never needed to use the A/C as the overhead fans and breeze coming in from the ocean kept the unit very cool. Location was great. Easy access to store, beaches, restaurants and easy access to the highway to tour around. Definitely hope to return next year.

Very accommodating owner
We got in at about 11:00 pm and a week later we were to check out at 11:00am, but our flight times had gotten changed so the condo owner let us stay till early evening so we didn’t have to hang out in the rental car for 10 hours! Thank you again!!

Most Relaxing Vacay EVER!
Was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable stay here! The condo was nicely furnished and the kitchen had everything we needed for our 2 week stay!! The location could not have been more perfect🏝! Our unit looked out over a manicured lawn which butted up to the water’s edge. We could view whales and turtles daily - what a treat!!! And being able to hear the calming waves day and night was so relaxing. We were able to walk daily on “our” beach - hardly anybody there!! If we wanted to go eat we could walk... even shopping and the Maui Ocean Center was just a short walk away!! Location, location, LOCATION!! Quiet and relaxing but just a short drive away to golf courses, Kaanapoli, Lahaina and Kihei for a busier feel. We have been to Maui several times, and would only stay here in Ma’alaea on any future visits!!

Picture perfect
Exactly as advertised, this beautiful little condo is situated perfectl-to the north is Lahaina about 20 minutes, to the South Kehei and Wailea. The grounds are spectacular and the view from the lanai is perfect. A beautiful pool, extraordinary beach just a short walk away, at the same time away from all the hustle and bustle-Owner is very communicative and helpful and goes above and beyond at all times. Really wonderful place I would go to again for sure…

Great Birthday Trip
Stayed with my girlfriend for her 28th birthday Winter 2020. Checkin was super easy, and the place was just as described. The location allowed us great access to both Lahaina/Kaanapali up the coast and Kihei/Wailea down the coast via our rental car, which I definitely recommend getting. In addition, the location gives great access to the airport and starting point of Haleakala and Hana roads. The location itself is incredible -- you simply can't get much closer to the water anywhere else, including at the big resorts. The pool equipment like boogie boards was really nice to have as well. Overall, this is a great and cost-effective home base to have on any adventurous trip to Maui.

Quiet, Convenient Location
We enjoyed being away from the busier resort areas. At this location, you can get to the airport, multiple beaches, shopping areas and other attractions within 20 minutes. It is next to the marina where all whale-watching and snorkeling boats depart from. While this is an older condo complex, it is meticulously maintained. The laundry room on the same floor was convenient and always clean (the machines take credit cards). The unit itself is nice but also dated. Kitchen appliances are new, but the other a/v equipment and the bathroom need an upgrade. Storage in the bedroom closet was restricted due to the presence of paint buckets and building supplies. I know they needed to get as many parking spaces on site as possible, but the spaces are very narrow, which made it hard to get in and out of our car.

Disappointed in customer service and non communication
The suite was not very clean when we arrived particularly the floors and the bathroom. When I emailed the owner about my concerns the email was ignored. I tried to clean the suite myself but the mop was completely broken and unusable and the broom was on its last legs. There were no rags. The bathtub was clogged from the moment we got there. Again I sent a polite email detailing my concerns and request for cleaning supplies and it was ignored. The owner needs to put some money, time and care into updating and servicing this property as well as showing more care and respect for guests. Not once were we approached to see how our stay was going and our efforts at communicating were ignored. Disappointed.

This is an unfair review. The cleaners are top notch professionals that we have used for over 10 years ,and would never leave things as the writer described. The unit is cleaned when guests leave, and if there are several days before a new guest arrives, a pre-clean is done the day before they arrive as well. The abundance of 5 star reviews over many, many years indicate the care and attention to detail that are consistently provided. We get many guests who return year after year which speaks to their satisfaction of all aspects of this beautiful unit. We also give our personal email and phone number so guests can call anytime during their stay if required. If an email got lost a phone call would have received an immediate response as is, and will continue to be, our practice.

15 minutes from airport. very conveniently located. Did Lani Kai molinkini and turtle town boat tour, just a short walk or ride. Beach bums had lobster special on Tuesday for 28.95. 5 minute walk. relaxing sitting right on the lawn chairs listening to the waves. There were turtles also down in the water. great time.

Just what was needed
Beautiful condo and very centrally located. It was nice to be away from all the crowds, be able to walk to a beach (even though didn't need to, the view from the lanai is spectacular), and then drive if want to see places.

Nine days too short
This trip was amazing, our honeymoon was nine days too short! We would have loved to stay longer and explore Maui more. We will definitely be back. The condo was perfect, clean, and in a great location. Eric was awesome and let us in when we accidentally locked ourselves out on the patio. We will definitely be back!

Terrific location and condo unit
This condominium has the best location for a stay on Maui. Not only a nice beach nearby - 5 min. walking distance - but easy access to many other top beaches. Drives to east Maui or west Maui are easily navigated. Most sites to be discovered were really short drives. We went nearly everywhere! The unit itself was just what we needed (and expected). The waterfront lanai was the best! Grounds were immaculate. Would return here in a heartbeat - and hope to.
