Wonderful stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely house, clean, quiet, comfortable with easy beach access. No complaints! We had trouble with the door code but management came to the rescue on a Sunday. Thank you for that!

Great place for family getaway

This property is fantastic.There is o much room we didn't even use all the beds! The central location to Newpo and the crab fishing to Yachats shopping and excellent seafood restaurants/hiking trails. The only cons are the fact that we needed to do dishes and laundry or will be fined - with the amount we paid this should not be an issue.Also, the walk to the beach. It is abit rough, I was thinking grandparents could not do it. There should be some steps or something. But overall a great family place with an amazing beach.

Very comfortable for a family trip

The home is comfortable. It is a little run down with some things in need of paint and closet doors needed some maintenance. There is a bluff between the house and ocean, and beach access front m the house is not possible if you have difficulty climbing sand. The kitchen has a lot of nice dishes and pots and pans. I would have liked measuring spoons and a better can opener. Our family had a very nice time playing games and making and eating great food. We did have to drive some to an easier beach access up the road. The deck was nice and we loved listening to the ocean.

Stairs

16 steps to main floor. Internet connection was spotty and TV went out frequently. We thought it would be closer to the beach. We still enjoyed our stay.

Great house in beautiful location!

This was a great house with plenty of room for my entire family. Beautiful view of the ocean with an easy path to the beach. Everyone had a fabulous time! Will definitely come back again!

3 sisters reunion

Our husbands joined us. We cooked every night at the house. The setting on the Oregon coast offers a great view and easy beach access. It was a great time.

Castle Sand Stay

House was amazing over all. Location, size of house, and clean/welcoming. Older house in need of fixing up. Shower downstairs leaking, running toilets, mostly just wear and tear. Fridge had old blood in it from meat. I cleaned it. We really did enjoy the house. I would stay again. Don't want nothing to perfect for us to ruin. Lol. Also, very comfortable beds and master shower. You can definitely fit alot of people in house comfortably. Thank you

Great home for a big group.

The house was spacious and lovely. We enjoyed how easy it was to walk to the beach in minutes. We had one issue with a bathroom and the property owner was kind and very prompt at responding. We would stay here again.

Excellent Property Management

The property was pretty and had okay amenities, what really impressed me, is upon arrival we had a few issues, and the property manager was on top of taking care of everything for us, and making sure our vacation went off without a hitch and that we were truly comfortable in our environment. I would recommend this property solely on how well the management company works with you and actually cares (plus they were local).

Relaxing stay

We came on a Thursday and left on a Tuesday. The house was clean and very well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the king tides and spending time so close to the beach. We will be back!

Great place for family

This house was very clean, and very well stocked. We were prepared with lots of TP, paper towels, etc, but there was enough to get us through the weekend without getting into our stock. The kitchen was amazing--every pot and pan and gadget you can imagine, including a blender, griddle, storage containers, plenty of bowls, plates, glasses, silverware to use for a big crowd and have extras not in the dishwasher. The living room upstairs is comfy with beautiful couches and a wood burning fireplace. There was enough wood for 3 nights' fires, along with starters and matches. The pool table room was also very comfortable and fun for kids to watch movies in separate from parents upstairs. Decor was cute beachy, not overdone. It is a simple walk across the dunes to a huge, wide open beach, and a quick over the bridge trip to a large supermarket. We had a nice time at this house.

August family vacation

We had a great time this summer in waldport. This house had comfortable beds and a good layout for our two families (4 adults and 4 kids under 8). We love this section of the beach and have been to this area multiple times. The kitchen in this house was a little outdated - the dishwasher was very weak and not installed properly. I was bummed to realized there was no coffee left over from another group for the first morning. And it was missing a large crab pot or crab crackers. There were also no beach toys or beach chairs on site. Overall, we loved this vacation.

Friend group getaway

Our friend group of 3 families had a great time at this property. Late spring early summer is always hit or miss on the weather and our trip was mostly rainy with good winds one of the days. But proximity to to ocean when the wind and sky were calm was perfect. This property is spacious enough and was fully stocked with everything we needed to hangout inside. View of the ocean from the side to side bay windows was awesome (note that you cannot see the immediate beach from the windows due to the dunes only the outlying water). Some of the other reviews mentioned cleanliness as an issue. The house was clean and tidy and well stocked. There did appear to be a drainage issue with a sink in the primary, one if the closet doors was unattached and in the back of the closet and the garbage disposal couldn't handle disposing very well but everything seemed reasonable for a rental and caused our group no distress. It has to be hard to maintain a spot constantly beaten by salt and sand. Personally had no issues with this property. But one notable and reason for only 4 stars is the "pool" mentioned in the advertisement. There is no pool on this property. There is however access to the community pool, for what I felt was a hefty additional fee per person. It is not on the property, private, or included. Also it is not always open. And when I inquired as to possible access prior to our arrival, the property management firm told me to "look up the phone number and call the pool because we didn't know that information." I felt the photos and advertisement read a little different and seemed to imply easy included access. Also felt that a management company should have all that info. But overall, the house is a nice place with a quite privet beach location and had all the things you would for a beach weekend with kids and friends. Would rent again.

Creaky Beds

The lower level beds are so creaky some of us had to sleep on couches. When I spoke with them about this they offered a $250 refund but never credited my card. Now they aren't responding to my email or phone calls. Unprofessional rental company.

Holiday in Oregon

Our family is coping with Huntingtons Chorea. We needed a place to just spend time with each other. Very happy with the home. We will go back to the area, during the summer, when we can enjoy the beach a little more.

Fabulous family trip

We had a wonderful time at Castle in the Sand. This was a weekend trip with our kids, their spouses, and our new grandbaby... This house had plenty of room for all of us to spread out. It was relatively clean, other than some of the pans we pulled out to use. There is a gnat problem, but it didn't hinder our time together! Super access to the beach. It was a bonus that we had perfect weather. We hope to stay here again. Thank you!

Great Location, a few improvements needed

Overall we had a nice time but I would not rent this house again. I found the layout really awkward and even frustrating at times with a dog (a LOT of up and down the stairs-not recommended for seniors). You could not sit and watch the ocean from the Adirondack chairs on the deck, but if the deck were only a few feet higher or if maybe they installed taller bar seats you could have. The house itself was very well cleaned, it was clear that the cleaning staff did the absolute best that they could but there were things about the house that were downright gross. Buy a new shower mat. Get a new kitchen faucet. Address the very annoying fruit fly/gnat situation. Talk to the neighbor about removing the big decaying seal? carcass at the start of the dune path. The location was fantastic, the beach was beautiful and uncrowded and just a short walk through the dunes but for that amount of money get a different house, and one that will comp a trip to the pool they advertise.

Great location. Not so clean

This property, like others in this development, is set.back from the beach — a bit of a hike across a couple of small dunes to the waves. Which is actually really great because it affords some privacy. Kids and pets will love the hike back and forth. Disabled folks who need assistance when walking may find it difficult. The Bayshore Club public access a few doors down might be better (I’m guessing; never actually saw it). The beach itself is wide, uncrowded, very pleasant to walk on. The ocean view from the property is a bit obstructed but it still has a beach feel,. When we were inside, we enjoyed the upper common area with the fireplace. Amenities are in pretty good condition. Pool table is in great shape, heat works, etc. We were surprised to see that the garage is usable, which makes some things easier. Kitchen is well stocked. Tons of towels (though no beach towels). They threatened not to have enough paper products, but when we got there, there was plenty including extra toilet-paper rolls. So we brought extras for nothing. The property management company was helpful enough but sometimes slow to respond to messages. Payment process can be a bit convoluted but their email explained what to do. The one big negative here, as noted in other reviews, is the cleanliness. Particularly in the bathrooms — moldy shower curtains, stains on the floor, etc. We debated telling the management company, but clearly it’s a chronic issue and we didn’t want a hassle or for them to make things worse. Suggest bringing shower shoes at a minimum. For the price, I’d expect thorough cleaning between renters. Overall, it’s a great property and we had an awesome time. Not spectacular, and not the cleanest, but pleasant with some commendable unique features. We’d come here again, but if we do, we’d be ready to do a little bathroom scrubbing on day 1.
