Dogs are usually not allowed inside at Shearwater Beach House, but we occasionally make an exception to host well behaved inside dog like Monty. We only grant permission for inside dogs to repeat guests or guests known to us, and we need to convince the owners that the risk their much loved property is low. It was a pleasure hosting you Michelle for seven January nights, a great length of time to enjoy Shearwater and the region. We'd be delighted to host you all again.

We are glad you all enjoyed your stay Gini including your dog..I am glad you had such a successful stay and enjoyed the nearby walks and bushland. Dogs don't work for everyone at Shearwater if guests want to include it in the family holiday - the guests are usually upstairs at the front and the dog is in the yard at the back. In exceptional circumstances we may allow a dog to come inside, but a refundable pet bond applies and we need to be very confident that there will be no trace of the dog inside or out when guests leave

The Master bedroom with views of Wilsons Promontory, direct access to the balcony, plus ensuite and walk in-robe. I't's definitely one of the best features of the house in my book.

Hi Lesley We are delighted that you loved the area and large house. Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry that the hot water proved to be inadequate for your group. One of the green features of the house is that it has solar power panels and a large solar hot water service. The water is heated up during the day and also at night with off-peak electricity. It should be fine for a medium to large-sized group but in reality 10 people showering can strain a non-instant system. The remoteness means the region isn't connected to mains gas ruling out an instant system. In our information about Shearwater we invite guests to contact us if necessary and we can talk through an over-ride booster system. We will look at making this more prominent. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Shearwater Beach House. Our guests do love the space and comfort it offers. Walkerville is known for being a quiet holiday retreat, a place to get away from the more popular centres with their shops and facilities, but so close to The Prom, the great coastal scenery and the wines and foods of Gippsland. We enjoy the walk to the Waratah Bay Overlook viewing platform and the iconic Walkerville North and South beaches. It starts a couple of minutes from the house opposite McNeil Ct and meanders through coastal woodlands, great for wombats, echidnas and lyrebirds. Not suited to those less mobile or very small children, but otherwise very accessible.

Thanks for staying Michelle. We love Shearwater all seasons. The moody seas views and wood heater make it cozy in winter. In summer its spacious and designed for beach house living. Wilsons Prom is a compelling backdrop and really unique.

Hi Terrence, thanks for your feedback. You are right, if ten people shower at similar times the hot water can run out. It is a big tank 400L but solar heated and if there is not much sun it can be slow to heat. It happened last year to a group in the depths of winter and we responded in detail on 1 July. We've found the hot water holds up fine if a large group staggers showers and we recommend short showers, so that we don't use all the collected rain water.

Thanks James for staying and being our first guests at Shearwater Luxury Beach House. Well, not our first guests exactly but our first guests with new owners and recent refurb. The house is fundamentally very similar but we have now added a full linen service, quality manchester & sprinkled it with lots of elements of luxury to give it its own unique special feel.
