“My friends and I rented this property for a long girls weekend to attend an event in the area. We liked the historical aspect of the property and Gary was an excellent host. His banana bread was amazing! We would definitely stay again. ”

“The Heartwood is a very nice new hotel right on the Vassar College campus. The decor throughout was modern yet warm. Our room was very nice, with a comfortable king bed, modern and spacious bathroom, nice decor and a large wall-mounted TV. Given how expensive other nice hotels were in the Poughkeepsie / New Paltz area, I highly recommend this hotel, as it was reasonably priced and quite nice, with friendly and attentive staff.”

“This is a lovely small hotel with nicely decorated rooms. It was very quiet; we rarely saw other guests or staff, which made it feel nicely private. Breakfast, while simple, was perfectly adequate and actually available all day. The only thing I didn't like is that the bed is really high; I'm very short and could have used a small step stool to climb in with ! But it was very comfortable and we slept well. This was a nostalgic trip for us, as we used to own one of the houses next door (40 years...

“We rented the 2 bedrooms with 2 full baths. It was very spacious for our needs. The complimentary breakfast was very good and convenient. Basketball court, putting course and indoor pool and jacuzzi were great amenities. Several food and dessert options were within walking distance. Bed and pillows were a bit soft. Wonderful stay overall!”

“Typical stop over hotel off the highway and very well priced for the area. Clean and comfortable except the highway side was loud. Breakfast was convenient but could add some more items… coffee machine was fantastic!! Cappuccino… lattes…. Espresso… and more!”

“10/10 would stay here again. Spectacular location and service! The rooms had gorgeous views. The property is well-maintained and quiet. The common room was a joy to sit in, with delicious free cookies in the afternoons and smores for toasting in the outdoor fire pits in the evenings. The breakfast bar was also great. Free parking. You can’t beat the location — only an 8 minute drive to Minnewaska State Park and across the street from a great German restaurant. Lastly, this was dog friendly! ”
