“We stayed at the Horse and Farrier the night before our hike up Scafell Pike, it's only a 25 minute drive to Seathwaite Parking, if you're going up the corridor route. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. the food was lovely and the room we stayed in was clean, well presented and comfy. Definitely recommend eating nd staying here!”

“I admittedly arrived at a busy time and The Bear was reportedly chronically short of staff. Whilst the room and its cleanliness was excellent, the human side was somewhat chaotic. I queued twice for approx. 15 mins in total only to be told, in regard to ordering food, that the chef was very busy and not feeling well. I could not order any food and whilst sickness is unavoidable no decision was made to stop food orders for the evening. That lack of a decision was the problem and frustrating. I...

“Great hotel with the sweetest staff! They assisted with everything and was so nice! Great hotel for dogs as well. The trays outside of the rooms for muddy boots was the cherry on top! Like most old buildings in th UK it gets a bit damp but the room was nice and clean ”

“Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet. “Bedroom and bathroom clean and tidy well apportioned steps to bed room not good for disabled person or any one with mobility problems main stairs ok. bar and lounge well laid out. Breakfast room an orangery to rear lovely all furniture English oak including stairs in bed rooms in-bar area etc food excellent”

“We stayed at Old Posting Inn for 2 nights as wanted to explore the lake District area. We wanted a quiet, quaint village as our base, and the Inn was perfect for our needs. The dinner was excellent and the hosts were lovely. The location itself is15 mins from Cockermouth town centre, 30-40 mins from Kewsick, and 45 mins from Buttermere. All in all, it was a perfect holiday for us, and we will come again!”

“Recently refurbished, rooms were clean and fresh and kept the original features of the property. Bathroom was lovely and bath a great size although did miss the option of grabbing a quick shower. Bathroom needs a blind or curtain please otherwise stunning room.”

“A classic 18 century coaching in with Ultra modern facilities and Michelin level food the staff are really helpful and can’t do too much for us helping us tune our TV to ensure that we had ability to watch the World Cup games. The food is a different level to coaching and could be a Michelin star restaurant the court outstanding and the quantity very generous. I would highly recommend this coaching in the Brown horse for either stay or a meal either way you’ll enjoy yourself. I’ll probably keep...

“The staff were great - friendly and welcoming. The room was on the small side but we were only there for one night, and it was clean and comfortable (and the view of the hills was lovely). There was a large fan provided, which was very welcome given the heatwave that was taking place that week, We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. A perfect place for an overnight in the Lakes.”
