FrÄn takterrassen kan du titta ner pÄ folkmassorna och gÄ ut pÄ en kvÀllspromenad lÀngs Church Street till de berömda klostret, eller ner till Tate Sands, nedanför klostret, dÀr Draculas skepp förstördes. NÀr klockan ringer gÄr ut med en drink för att titta pÄ bron som öppnar sig och bÄtarna gÄr ut till havet och fiskaren ÄtervÀnder med sin fÄngst pÄ kvÀllen. Om det finns en bÀttre plats i Whitby att se vÀrlden gÄ förbi har jag Ànnu inte hittat den och jag har besökt i över 50 Är!
En ljus rymlig lÀgenhet med konstverk pÄ vÀggarna och en mysig matsal / vardagsrum. Ledsen men inte lÀmplig för hundar. SmÄ barn kommer att behöva övervakning pÄ takterrassen. Du kan se utsikten över Swing Bridge frÄn takterrassen hÀr:

The flat was absolutely brilliant, the area it’s in was brilliant for our stay, unloading the car was easy the rooms where bright and very clean and it had everything you could possible need for a short stay.The stairs going up to the flat are quite brutal ( I’ve got a bad knee ) but it was outweighed by the veranda over looking the estuary.Will definitely be staying again and cannot recommend enough Mr Barrett

Whitby trip

Stayed for 3 nights in May. Managed to park for free on arrival,bonus! Felt a little uncomfortable in the small entrance alley,it seemed quite dirty.The stairs up to the apartment door were cracked and the light was on a sensor which didnt come on until i was on the second step. After unlocking the apartment door the stairs leading up were a disappointing first impression, they were covered with a plastic protector which was dirty and torn.Once in the apartment it was comfy and well equipped if a little tired in places. Carpet needed a clean and some painting was needed. Beds were clean with nice linen. Roof terrace was impressive view wise.There was an upturned table and a storage box with no front on which was littered with a broken chair and various broken and mouldy bits of fishing equipment which spoiled the area. I didnt use the kitchen but it seemed really well equipped. There was a mix up with my booking,the property was double booked. John rang and because i was quite flexible with dates i was able to go later than planned. The stairs andand

Wonderful wonderful Whitby ❀

This property is wonderful, plenty of room and charm, right in the heart of Whitby, we were blessed with wonderful weather, and the terrace was amazing watching the boats come and go, we loved it and if ever in Whitby again would definitely choose to stay here, thank you John we will definitely be letting family and friends no about your beautiful apartment xx

You have got to stay here - little gem of a place!

John's apartment Swingbridge Lookout is an absolute must for a stay in the beautiful Whitby! Superb location enabling you to explore what Whitby has to offer and a chance to be immersed in this wonderful character of this bustling seaside town. The apartment itself is fantastic, super spacious, full of character, homely and very well equipped for those that enjoy the self catering style of break. I thoroughly enjoyed the various artwork and quirky Dracula ornaments positioned around the place! The roof terrace is most definitely the jewel in the crown for this place! Easily accessible from the living room area and a wonderful place to enjoy a morning cuppa or evening glass of wine watching the comings and goings over the Swingbridge and beyond. You really do get a 'bird's eye view' from here and can even see the steam trains pulling in and out of the station. I'd also like to point out how comfortable the beds are here and that is normally a problem for me in most places that we stay in. There was nothing nicer that waking up and popping your head through one of the skylight windows to see what the weather was doing or to see the lovely St Mary's Church up at the Abbey headland. I can assure you that you will not want to leave this fab place and can't recommend a stay here highly enough :-)

Perfect location, comfortable beds and furniture. Should make it clearer that no BBQs allowed on terrace before booking, or remove the pic of someone bbq'ing from images to avoid any misconceptions

Location, location, location

This rental is all about location. It is in the heart of the town with a great roof terrace overlooking the town and estuary. Be aware there are 34 steps to the apartment (another 14 to the master bedroom) a bit onerous when unloading but worth it when you get there! However, parking is a nightmare!! It took 1 3/4 hours to find a space on arrival and we never did find a space in the ‘free’ road side parking. Hence we had to feed the meter every morning £9 a day! That was outside school holidays.

Meet up with friends

We went to Whitby to meet some friends. Having stopped in this wonderful flat before it was the obvious place to stay this time. Two of our sons joined us and wished they’d been before and asked when we can come back. They also decided our stay should be much longer. It truly is a wonderful place and we all can’t wait to visit again.

this property is located in centre of town easy access to both sides of town not to far from train station might be a problem for those with a car as there is no parking at place view of harbour is fantastic . only thing is take towels with you as they are not provided

Whitby weekend

Property in excellent central location. Roof terrace was amazing, a real bonus. Everything very comfortable although front door & steps very pigeonified!!! But generally a great location, loved the views from the upstairs bedroom !!!!!

I think it is insulting to present the place as a two bedroom flat and in one put a futon bed instead of a proper size bed. I had to sleep in one of the bunk beds.

Perfect location

On a sunny day, there isn’t a better place than the roof terrace to watch the world go by! A great location to explore the beauty of Whitby. Quirky apartment with everything you need 😊 (apart from towels

Excellent apartment in prime location

The apartment has good facilities and is in the best location with a rooftop terrace overlooking the swing bridge and estuary giving views of the whole of the harbour and waterfront areas. Looking forward to arranging another stay next year.

30th wedding anniversary

My wife and I rented this property for a few days to celebrate our anniversary. The flat is lovely, well equipped and is situated perfectly, the roof terrace is amazing, a lovely place to have breakfast or see in the new day like we did, can’t wait to visit again!

Really quirky property with a lovely homely feel and all the amenities you need. The owner was uber responsive and helpful. The seagulls were a tad menacing on account of having a fledgling living on the roof terrace but we got along fine

Third visit to this great little property



As with previous visits, the flat was spotlessly clean and tidy. Lovely crisp bed linen and the sofa bed in the twin room is pretty comfortable. We know that the location is perfect for us with everything right on your doorstep and that check in and unloading is super easy. Car parking in Church Street long stay was busy but we got a space and if we hadn’t, there was plenty of space in the long stay opposite the co-op which is only a short walk. The addition of the Wi-Fi is an added bonus. Didn’t use TV/DVD but there is a great selection of Dracula films to enjoy if you fancy an evening in. Plenty of pots and pans etc 
..and whilst we didn’t need it, a washing machine too. It’s a real home from home! We love the roof terrace and the view it affords over the town and there are two super comfy chairs in the indoor cupboard but some chairs to go with the dining table would be nice and perhaps a power wash. The little seagull baby who has taken up residence made a right mess of the cupboard on the decking every night too!!
