Ett underbart ställe med fantastisk mat

Vi hittade detta fantastiska ställe av en slump. Härliga omgivningar, helt rätt läge för vandringar på Dartmoor. Trevligt rum, fantastisk mat och ett omhändertagande värdpar.

wonderful place for relaxing

Absolutely superb place to seek tranquility and gorgeous nature. Wonderful breakfast in a nice setting. Good service, clean and comfortable,cosy room. Would go back again anytime.

Excellent!

Thoroughly enjoyed a recent 4 night's stay. Both Sarah and John are excellent hosts who make you feel extremely welcome and where nothing is too much trouble. Set in the heart of Dartmoor, my room (House Martin) looked over their privately owned woodland. A very good night's sleep is guaranteed. The breakfast and evening meals were exceptional and my only regret is that I didn't stay longer but I will most definitely be returning! Thank you both very much indeed.

It was lovely and John couldn't do enough to help us. If there was one thing we could mention to improve, it was to try to include vegan options for the main meal particularly as we had a very small plate of roasted veg for a main course and some mushrooms for starters which came in at £23.

Was on a cycling holiday and this was a perfect base. John, Sarah and the rest of the staff were impeccable hosts, very friendly, top notch service and couldn't have done more to help. A hearty breakfast to set me up each morning and a tasty meal at the end of the day (try the steak & horseradish pie - delicious!). Hotel is set off the main road, by a river and close to the Bellever Tor, so plenty to explore. Almost forgot, the room was clean with hot drink facilities available. Bed was comfortable too, I slept like a log.

What a great stay

This was a terrific stay and we were made very welcome. The location is great though care needs to be taken in finding it. Look for the hotel sign in Postbridge and the very narrow road is directly opposite. Superb views and very nicely appointed property. We ate in the hotel both nights (it was just easier) and it was excellent the first night but I thought it bit average on the second when we chose the chicken dish and the mushroom tagliatelle. Breakfasts are superb as well with all products locally sourced and great quality. The hotel is a short walk to the Dartmoor visitor centre with walks leading off from there, so ideal for walking, even directly outside the hotel’s front door.

Excellent location. Friendly hosts. Great breakfast. Lovely dining area. Convenient having option of evening meal. Some fixtures and fittings could do with attention but hosts have only recently taken over and these may improve.

All good, friendly warm atmosphere. Food was excellent and shower had good pressure. Bed comfy. As stated-all good. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to have a relaxing atmosphere with great vistas from the bar dining decking.

Exceptional location, wonderful hosts.

Lydgate house is found up a fairly private track. Most of its room face onto great scenery, hills, a river and distance forest. You can walk straight from the house. Parking is easy and the hosts, Sarah and John are friendly and caring about your stay in their house. Rooms are clean and every thing you need. Our room had an amazing view. Food was lovely, with extra quality being the key ingredient. Sarah can provide evening meals and there is a small bar. It's a roomy house so you do not feel as if you are on top of each other. We would definitely like to go again, and recommend others not to miss out.

Lovely countryside B and B

We had looked for a comfortable base to enjoy some short Dartmoor walks (inspired by Julia Bradbury). Lydgate House did not disappoint. John and Sarah were very attentive and made sure everything we wanted was available. Attention to detail (especially for food allergens/preferences) was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. This place is highly recommended and we will stay again when we plan a further Dartmoor visit.

Wonderful stay! Warm welcome from John and Sarah on arrival! An oasis of peace and calm! And a great location for hiking Dartmoor! Clean and comfy room, which help me sleep well after long days out walking. Fabulous breakfast. Great base for exploring Dartmoor.
