The perfect Athens home

Beautifully appointed apartment with every comfort in a fantastic neighborhood. The balcony is a great retreat and you can see the movies on the outdoor cinema across the street. Restaurants and groceries are nearby, but it is very quiet. The beds are so comfortable! There is easy access to the Metro and you can walk to many sites if you like to explore on foot. The hosts were helpful and excellent at communicating before and during the trip. A true home away from home.

We have rented many lovely apartments in Athens, but this is the loveliest by far and now our favorite, in part because of the location--for the quiet and calm of Kolonaki as well as for its proximity to the Cycladic, the Benaki, and the National Museums of Art among other sites; for nearby tavernas and coffee shops; for small food markets; and for high quality shops. Moreover, the apartment is owned by a Greek family (not a foreign commercial enterprise) and reflects their intellect (the most wonderful library or Greek, German, and French books) and taste (lovely antique ceramics, paintings, carved wood furniture). It is spotlessly clean, carefully maintained, with excellent plumbing, a very nice bed, and an unusually comfortable couch. The lighting, too, is much appreciated, whether for reading or getting dressed. At night you can sleep with open windows after the cafes close when the street grows quiet. Moreover, you can enjoy the balcony and its marble table at any time of day. Dimitris is a perfect host who speaks many languages and provides a seamless check-in and check-out. We hope to be back next year!

Absolutely Zero Cons - Must Grab if Available

My mother and I stayed at this apartment for about a week while touring Athens. We were at a hotel a few days prior and when we switched to this home, it was a night-and-day difference. This apartment is absolutely beautiful, the pictures were 100% accurate. And as Swedes, we enjoyed the Scandinavian-Greek styles found in the decor. It is located on the fifth floor, elevator available, in a quiet neighborhood north of one of the city centers. You can walk to Acropolis (25 min) and to several museums (under 10 min). If you go on tours, the hotels where pickups occur are a 15 min walk away. My mother, who cannot walk far anymore, greatly appreciated that she could enjoy the city and feel comfortable at the same time. The neighborhood also features probably 20 restaurants within a 10 min walking distance (dozens more if you walked to the city center). Not a single one disappointed us, though they were on the more expensive side. Not surprising since we found out this neighborhood is one of the nicest in Athens. The neighborhood was also supremely safe. There was no trash, no ruckus, and every resident seemed really kind. Do yourself a favor and grab this apartment if you can. The owners were incredibly lovely, always communicating and ensuring our stay was positive.
