“Had a choice between this motel, which was a little out of the way, or a motorway chain. This did take extra time from the M11, but was it ever worth it. Roydon could be straight out of Thomas the Tank Engine, the railway is right there (but not too noisy), you can walk to the little station, a canal on your doorstep, two very decent pubs, a coffee bar for sandwich or coffee in the marina. “The room was lovely, nice and big and well decorated. Lovely bathroom too. The pub was great, we only had a couple of drinks and breakfast but no complaints. The only small thing is we only had one bath towel in our room, we intended on running downstairs to ask for another one but ran out of time before we head to head out. ”

“We came to visit family who live nearby in the village, so it was very convenient to stay at the Red Lion. The apartment was great, the super-king-sized bed was very comfortable with lovely cotton sheets, and there was a great shower. Staff were very friendly and the apartment block is a short walk from the pub, so it is private and quiet. Would definitely stay again . ”
